Visited for a weekend. Stayed in room 3. Staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Really nice atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Three course meal on the first night was excellent so had Tapas the next evening which was equally as good. Would definitely go back to this hotel.

Stayed mid week for three nights .Room 1 on first floor nicely kitted out and comfortable .Pillows might have been firmer but probably I am being picky . We were DBB . Slightly disappointed menu did not alter over the three days ....good to have seen some specials ! But the food is very good and wine list excellent.

We stayed for one night dinner bed and breakfast. What great value. What a lovely spot! Such hands-on polite staff - and what a great breakfast. Lovely comfy bed in room 7, absolutely spoilt. Kirby Lonsdale shops are varied and full of really desirable things to buy! We stayed for supper and the food was great - 1st rate service which deserved a good tip!

Room Tip: They're all lovely rooms!

Having carefully researched Plato's and seen nothing but positive reports, our experience was all the more disappointing. We booked a 'superior' room for two nights. Big mistake. Room 3 overlooked the road and the noise from pedestrian and motor traffic made it impossible to sleep until about 1.30am. At about 5.30 am the hotel delivery vehicles started to arrive making further sleep impossible. Possibly the worst night, sleepwise, of my life!

The quite small ensuite double bedroom wasn't without problems. The two sash windows could only be partially opened and the blinds needed repairs. The pop-up plug in the wash basin didn't work and the bathroom was not entirely clean. There was no wardrobe, merely five pegs to hang cloths ! And this was a superior room !

Having arrived quite late , we ate in the restaurant the first evening and enjoyed a reasonable 'Tapas' meal before retiring to bed. Service was excellent from a very overworked waiting staff of two. However the next morning, we were looking forward to our full English breakfast. This arrived very over-cooked, Eggs Benedict and standard fried eggs were all cooked solid as was the bacon etc, but the worst feature was that the laid-up plates and cups were all unacceptably soiled to an extent I have never experienced before.

Without exception the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient but we gained the impression that staffing levels were hopelessly inadequate to maintain a reasonable standard.

We cancelled our second night's booking and will not be returning to Plato's.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the street if you are not used to living on a busy main road.

Just had a lovely night away in Kirby Lonsdale. Platos was exceptional for a B & B. The staff gave us a very warm welcome on arrival. Complimentary tea and cakes were certainly appreciated.
Room one is very cosy, immaculate and tasteful. Superb ensuite.
We decided to go for a wander round the village - thank goodness the shops were closed. I could have spent a fortune.!!
We enjoyed an excellent supper and the staff were particularly friendly and helpfull. I have to comment on the fabulous local ice cream.
After a good nights sleep we went for a walk to look at Ruskins View (very pretty) then were spoilt again with a hearty breakfast.
All in all a great place to stay for a a weekend break. Many thanks to all the staff.

Room Tip: We thought room one was lovely. Clean and comfortable and very pretty,

We stayed at plato's on Easter Saturday and Sunday, a very special treat off our daughter and her partner!. On our arrival we were given the keys ( attached to a cricket ball! Which is very quirky but a bit cumbersome to fit in a small handbag or my husbands trouser pocket) once inside our room we were over the moon at just how lovely it was! A lovely bright modern bathroom with quality toiletries and fluffy white towels. The bed was a nice and very comfortable kingsize, I only had one very small criticism, the bedroom window overlooks a house and felt there should be a blind which could be tilted!!! Giving some needed privacy!!! When getting ready as it was dark with the curtains closed and the lights were a bit dim. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, with lots of choice, the bar area was very nice too! All in all we had a great weekend and look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: We stayed in room1 which has a shower and a bath!! Not all rooms have a bath!.

To all at Plato's,I highly recommend visiting this establishment if you are looking for a quality stay in or around the Lake District. My partner and I stayed for two nights in Room 8, spotlessly clean, well equiped and extremely cosy and romantic. We booked in to the restaurant for our first night and expected to eat elsewhere for our second nights stay, after eating our evening meal we immediately asked for a table for our second nights stay as the food was exquisite and the service was second to none, the staff are so friendly, helpful and relaxed it was an absolute joy. The meal on the second night was even better which I could never have imagined possible. Your stay will be made all the more enjoyable by the fantastic staff, every single one of them were a credit to the hotel and we will definitely be revisiting Plato's in the future.
