König is a German-inspired restaurant with a sizeable garden that is located on the walk between Figueres train station and the Dalí Theatre-Museum. Although German-style sausages and beer figure prominently on the menu, the establishment also offers plenty of local tapas, hamburgers, and sandwiches.
We had a tasty sausage-and-beer lunch at König. From the list of different types of German-style sausages, I ordered and enjoyed a Chili Bratwurst. Its flavor and texture reminded me of Deutschland. From a fairly extensive beer list, including several German brews, I went with the König house beer—a refreshing, easy-drinking Pilsner made for summer.
We were happy to discover that König had an English menu. Although our server’s knowledge of English was cursory, he happily waited on us with the patience, grace, and smiles needed when interacting with foreigners who do not speak the local language at all. We certainly felt welcome and there were no snafus that could have easily occurred given the language configuration at play.
