Small hotel in Figueres, only few steps from Dali museum. Kitsch style exterior and interior decoration. Small rooms, old and worn furniture, questionable cleanliness. No sound isolation. Nice gesture - a complimentary cold water bottle in the fridge. Paid garage some 50 meters from hotel.

We booked this hotel on their web page, when we arrived we were given a small, dark, hot room. Receptionist was very unfriendly and rude.

When we walked into the hotel and realised that we was very low grade and dirty, we were concerned and asked to see the room before we unpacked the car. The receptionist refused initially, after a while agreed, that is when we were show via a smelly lift, down a dark corridor, to what was to be our small, dark, hot room. When asked if aircon worked, we were advised when the key card is inserted, considering the attitude to date, this really raised concerns with us.

When we asked about the park at the hotel, we were informed that is was in another block away from the hotel in a commercial parking lot. The photo of the garage is not their garage, and the way it is expressed on the web page is totally misleading.

We decided that we didn’t want to say, we didn’t feel comfortable about how we had been deceived to date from the images on the web page to the reality of the hotel and its services.

Because we had booked on their webpage directly, the managed and the receptions insisted that we couldn’t cancel without 24hr notice. If we had made the same booking on bookings.com we would have been able to cancel.

So we paid the 64 euros and went to another hotel. Check out my review for the quality difference for only 10 euros more for the room and 2 euros more for the parking. Worlds apart.

As soon as you arrive, your eyes are drawn to the multi-coloured cows on each balcony and the clown sitting out the front. The reception continues to dazzle, pin ball machine, giraffe, multitude of art on the walls, including a copy Dali's Mae West in the floor. Reception staff great and very helpful, tapas bar suggestions were spot on. The room was a good size with our own terrace overlooking Dali Museum, table & chairs and a hammock. Art on every wall, bedrooms, corridors, stairwells. Breakfast was OK but not much choice. Saturday night the owner has a free BBQ on roof terrace, this was very strange, but sardines were very nice.

I spent one night here on 3 October 2017. It was very warm and I could not figure out how to turn on the air conditioning so I called down to the front desk for help. A woman came up, listened to my request and fiddled with the thermostat for a few seconds before turning to me and saying that the air conditioning had been turned off in September! I pointed out that Spain is a very hot country and that it was premature to turn it off, as evidenced by current conditions. Well she lit up like a firecracker and yelled in my face that "THIS IS NOT SPAIN!". ( This was two days after the illegal referendum for independence in Catalonia.) She then turned on her heel and stomped out of my room. End of discussion.

The room itself was adequate and it was within walking distance of the Dalí Museum which compensated somewhat for the rude behavior of the staff.
