“Go there! It is really worth it!”
Reviewed January 4, 2012

If there is one restaurant you should go, it is the Hotel Rural Victoria restaurant! it is a restaurant that you will keep in mind for the rest of your life.

First of all, La Orotava is a lovely city (very different from the rest of the villages and cities). It is charming, they make great wine there, very clean and cosy, young inhabitants, lovely to walk and has nice historical buildings.

Secondly, the restaurant is situated in a lovely authentic location (you eat in a patio). You feel immediately at ease, there is a peaceful atmosphere, the service is more than excellent, the people are very friendly and warm-hearted. The quality of the food goes beyond expectations!

It is the best restaurant in Tenerife!

We stayed at Hotel Rural Victoria for one night but wished we had stayed at least one more night. La Orotava is an autentic old fashioned spanish town, with everything you will miss in the touristic zone in the southwest of Tenerife. It's steep so you will get quite good excercise walking up and down the streets. A little hard to find a place to park, but we found one five minutes away from the hotel after a while.

The hotel is very nice, the service great and the restaurant a must to try!! Great food and wine! We will gladly go back. The only drawback is the traffic passing by in the morning, ensuring an early wake up. However the room was charming and the view from the terrace outside was great.

Great location from which to explore the island and get the feeling of spanish tenerife. Like all hotels in la Orotava the Victoria is small. What sets out this hitel from the others is the great restaurant with great wines and advice by its sommelier Miguel.

We spent two nights in this hotel from 22 to 24 october 2011. It is situated in the center of the most picturesque town on Tenerife. Though the hotel has no parking, it was easy to find parking space within a 100 metres from its entrance.

The rooms of the hotel are situated one floor up around a central patio (covered by glass dome). An excellent restaurant and bar occupy the patio and ground floor. However, we were not disturbed by noise during the night. The rooms are spacious and well equipped.

If you visit this hotel, do make a reservation to dine in its restaurant. It is by far the best restaurant we had dinner in during the whole of our three weeks stay on the Canary Islands.

We booked a sunshiney winter break and chose the hotel first. What a winner. Miguel the dream barman greeted us with the best ever gin tonic in the universe and Richard, the chef, cooked us suppers to die for. The hotel and room with balcony were beautiful in the Tenerifian style and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The ambiance, the staff, food and even the other guests were terrific and made our first trip to this beautiful island one of our best holidays ever.

Room Tip: Booked 1/2 board Excellent decision Sublime food

Right in the heart of the old town, hotel was very comfortable with pretty central courtyard and rooms around the outside. Room was traditionally decorated with all the facilities we needed. Restaurant was very good - only place we ate in Tenerife where dinner came with vegetables. Was slightly noisy at night but its centre of town and its a historic building so no double glazing. Earplugs made for a perfect night's sleep. Room at front was possibly noisier but did have a lovely sun terrace to itself.

We stayed in the suite (room 201) for 4 days and found it very large and comfortable. There's a lovely wooden balcony from the living room overlooking the street. The wifi internet access is fast and reliable. Dinner down in the restaurant was excellent, rivaling any standalone restaurant and far beyond what we would expect from a typical hotel restaurant. We had grilled salmon and a scallop salad that were moist and tasty. Reservations are required as there are only 7-8 tables total. There is street parking outside, but it was almost always full so you might have to park further away. We walked from the Orotava bus station, it was a bit of a hike if you're bringing lots of luggage, but definitely possible. The included breakfast buffet was larger than what I'd expected for a small hotel, but similar to a US 3 star hotel. Eggs, breakfast meat, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and fresh fruit. The buffet is open 7:30-10:30 in theory, but get there early as it was empty and closed at 10a for us.
Roof access on the third floor provides a scenic view of the town down to the coast and back up towards El Teide peak. Even though the roof access is for everyone, we haven't seen anyone else up there.
There's a computer and printer available for free on the first floor.
118EUR a night, and Lonely Planet recommended.
