Spent 25 days here in January.
Great setting, Comfortable and spacious house.
The owners Maria Jose & Pepe were beyond welcoming. Ask Pepe to give you a tour of the banana plantation.
Make sure you take the 10 minute walk down through the 'finca' to the secret door. Be prepared - it is a bit steep for elderly folk.
The house is divided into the following:
Expansive living area, large separate kitchen where you can dine inside (or there is another large dining area out on the terrassa)
Off the living room there is a shower room and two bedrooms: One extremely large containing a 'queen-sized bed' and a daybed.
The second - master bedroom has a 'queen-sized bed' and a great bathroom - ensuite.
There is a 3rd single bedroom off the kitchen where you will also find the utility room.,
The 4th bedroom is separated from the main house (around the large water reservoir that feeds the plantation) It has its own entrance; a double-sized bed and ensuite shower room. Perhaps not ideal for older folk as the pathway can be a bit narrow.
When we arrived we were greeted by a smiling Maria Jose and our own massive 'cut straight from the plantation' hanging bunch of 50 bananas.
The refrigerator was already stocked with juices, water and a few beers.
The wifi was great. Brand new dishwasher. Massive TV
There is restaurant 2 minutes along the road.
The center of Puerto de la Cruz is an incredibly stunning good 30-40 minute hike through a deep barranco/ravine - but only a 5 minute drive.
This year we were able to see snow on the volcano from the house.
You really need a car to go to the supermarket.
Ask Maria Jose for directions to "El Surtidor" Guachinche (locals' restaurant) about 10 minute drive up the mountain.
The garden is a great sun trip with a view of the ocean and the cliffs below. In January we were getting the sun from around 9.30 already.
We plan on coming back next year.
