Went on the basis of recent reports and turned out to be the worst meal of our 6 day visit to Callao Salvaje. Service was great however food poor (garlic chicken and steak) - and wouldn't rush back. Can't argue with the fascinating location but other restaurants in the area beat this one by a long shot.....

Hi my fiancé and I are currently staying in a villa in Callao salvage, Tenerife. We were reading the diary left by previous guests and were recommended the el delfin restarant.
It is would I could only describe as a hidden gem. It is located down some steps over looking the sea.

Our first visit was afternoon and I was overwhelmed by the view it blew me away. There is a little terrace if you wish to sit outside we stayed in by the window.

The hostess Julie was very friendly and I discovered that it used to be a cave. She is English but fluent in Spanish and I believe other languages too.

For me she treats everyone with such kindness and it's clear she works so hard. I felt extremely welcome.

The prices do average around 8-9 euros.

You are presented with a warm bread roll and a delicious dish of homemade garlic butter plus normal butter.

We had fish of the day and two half jugs of house wine.

The halibut fish was huge, the vegetables that I seemed not to have had in other restaraunt were delicious especially the canaries potatoes. It is all delivered on a plate that looked like a boat. I was extremely impressed. The wine was In huge jugs and was fantastic.

I have eaten many places in my time but this has to go up on my list of must go places.

I liked it so much that today feb 19th, my birthday, we returned for a 730 sitting.
Julie is generally thoughtful and we had bumped into her earlier today she had remembered it was my birthday.
On being seated At our table tonight I was presented with a banner 'the party starts here!' I found this a lively touch. It seemed all the waiting staff knew it was my special day and wished me a happy birthday. I was touched by this small token.
Today we had prawn cocktail for starter and chaterbriand for main.
The consistancy in quality is outstanding.
What I like is you can see the chef cooking in a clean environment. The starter of prawn cocktail was wonderful it had fruit in it and the sauce was delicious so much so I used my roll so I didn't leave any!
For main We asked the steak to be medium rare and it was perfect. She cut and confirmed if we were happy too.
It came with a baked spud still in foil and filled with cheese and chives, vegetables, 2 sauces for the steak slices and fries cooked so they were tasty. This was served on a massive plate.
We had two bottles of rose that was nice.
We were about to order the bill when the lights dimmed and the tune to happy birthday engulfed the room out came ice cream with 3 sparklers and two spoons for us to enjoy. It sure did bring a happy tear to my eye. Julie sure knew how to look after her guests I had a fabulous birthday.

Two consistent visit one when it was quiet one when it was busy.

Tip book in advance it's very popular. If you've only got enough for one treat in your holiday make it the el delfin it's worth the visit. The view is spectacular, the food divine and the atmosphere lifting.

Thanks again Julie and if you read this happy birthday for Thursday.

If you do visit el delfin you will have a great time, truly recommended.

This restaurant was often recommended in reviews left by fellow timeshare guests at the nearby Suena Azulejo resort, so we had to give it a try. It is so hidden away, seemingly built into the cliffs and feeling like it overhangs the sea. Food is varied, reasonably priced and accompanied by a wide variety of drinks. Service is friendly and attentive. A great experience and worth searching out.
