We had a great break at this hotel in late April/early May. The weather was glorious and the surroundings peaceful and idyllic.Friendly hotel at the staff made it the perfect battery charger for a winter-weary couple!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher room to avoid a duff view. Double bed was uncomfortable for a tall guy so maybe put...

Our 4th visit to this superb Hotel. Lovely quiet location but a short walk to plenty of restaurants bars and shops. We love the fact that you can walk all the way to Los Christianos one way and the unspoilt area of La Caletta the other way. Hotel always spotlessly clean and the same staff every year and they always look happy while they work. A good choice of food -3 soups every night good choice of salads several choices of meat and vegetables also cheese and biscuits and lots of deserts. Looking forward to the refurbishment next year but hope they don't change it too much. There's a good bar called Tiggies just over the road with live music most nights and a quiz on Monday. Very much worth a visit. Will definitely be returning.

Great hotel, friendly staff, super clean, wonderful views. However the food was not great fish was overlooked and dry the meat and chicken were tough and over cooked. It was frustrating in the mornings trying to peel the oranges and other fruits with a blunt knife . Most hotels cut and slice the fruit. The salads were boring and tended to be drowned in vinegar. There were a lot of Germans staying at the hotel so the food was catered to their taste . The layout of the dinning room was not thought out very well as there were huge pillars beside the hot food buffet area so two people could not pass at the same time . I spent a lot of time walking up an down the dinning room looking for stuff trying to avoid getting knocked into and my food spilt over me. Eating at the hotel was not a relaxing experience. Tables were too close together so if you were on the inside you would have to be a size 8 to squeeze past to get out or wait until the other table got up to go to the buffet.
There was 33 steps to get down to the road to get to the hotel opposite to get a lift 6 floors down to the beach or 133 steps to walk down to the promenade so not recommended for people with mobility problems.

Room Tip: Ask for 4th or 5th floor with pool/ sea view . Beds are hard but ask for mattress topper as soon as...

Copied other review almost word for word. Stayed for 11 nites of gorgeous sunshine. . Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean and amazingly friendly staff. Rooms a bit drab but hey who stays in the room on holiday. Bed a bit hard. Clean towels on demand and sea/ pool views from balcony.Food okay, got a bit samey, but what was expected, nothing wrong with it though. Breakfasts though were lovely you could get an outside terrace table. Pool area again spotlessly clean We walked thru the Riu Palace beach pool area which was much more spacious and relaxing. Better entertainment at the Riu Palace too. Lovely walks along promenade to La Caleta Would I stay here again? Yes Do enjoy. A great 4 Star holiday. ....BIG complaint, non smoking room BUT neighbors smoked CIGARS on balcony so that we could NOT open sliding doors or sit on balcony - ALLERGIC to SMOKE!! need to have NON-SMOKING blocks of rooms, NO smoking neighbors PLEASE.

Room Tip: You can ask for a room away from kitchen, noise, with a sea view, but everyone does, so won't al...

Stayed for a week for some r&r from 13.04.14. Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean and amazingly friendly staff. Rooms a bit drab but hey who stays in the room on holiday. Bed uber comfortable. Clean towels on demand and sea/ pool views from balcony. Who could ask for more. Was our wedding anniversary whilst staying and was supplied with 2 free bottles of bubbly which was a lovely touch. Food okay, got a bit samey, but what was expected, nothing wrong with it though. Breakfasts though we're lovely if you could get an outside terrace table. One waitress to look out for was maria del Mxx who had the most infectious laugh and personality. Pool area again spotlessly clean, comfy sunbeds bud did get busy around the pool. We very naughtily took ourselves to the Riu Palace beach pool area which was much more spacious and relaxing. Better entertainment at the Riu Palace too. Lovely walks along prom to La Caleta for Tapas lunch. Would I stay here again? You bet I would. Do enjoy. A great 4 Star holiday. Some people expect too much.....

Room Tip: High floor, pool sea view. We had 4020

Our family have just stayed here, 8/4/14 - 22/4/14. We know the area well & have previously stayed at the sister Riu Palace and the Altamira apartments next door. With that in mind, we requested two adjacent rooms overlooking the pool. Alas we were given two rooms overlooking the Sheraton at the back of the hotel. Dismay all round! However, after politely asking reception to look at our booking preference again, the very kind Rene on reception moved us, the next morning, to a pair of pool view rooms. We were offered help in moving but didn't need it & we were all moved over in an hour. They gave us a written apology and a free bottle of wine by way of compensation too. We were now happy bunnies and the rest of the holiday was just so, so lovely.
Most of the accolades have been posted before & I do not intend to go over them all again.
However here are our thoughts...Room, great. Service, lovely & friendly everywhere. Food, fantastic choice but some hot dishes were only warm. Cleanliness everywhere, second to none. Creepie crawlies in the hotel?, didn't see even one. Would we go again. You bet.
Thank you so much to all the staff at the Arecas and Riu in general. You all deserve to be very proud of the service you provide. Hope to see you all again sometime soon.

I have just had a two week break starting on the 1st April at the Riu Arecas hotel.
The hotel is spotless and the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you.
Being a single traveler, it was good that you were given the same table for dinner each night and you got to know people near by, which by chance were very nice people.
Breakfast was open sitting and I must admit it was one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever
experienced. Dinner was a bit disappointing at first but as time went on it seemed to improve. The food was always hot but I do think there could have been more variety with the fish!
The beds are hard but reception soon dealt with that by sending up a mattress topper within
2 hours of mentioning it.
The entertainment was poor and with being so far from any other bars I felt that I couldn't walk out at night by myself and feel safe!
I believe that the hotel is being refurbished next year as it is a little dated.
They could improve the room by adding a mirror over the dressing table the only one in the bedroom is behind a wardrobe door!!!
The pool is kept clean but the paving is a bit uneven round the pool and you have to be careful if you are not good on your feet.
The sun beds weren't very comfortable so I would recommend taking a blow up pillow.
Wi-Fi was cheap 6 euros for 1440 minutes but could only be used in the reception area.
Overall a nice holiday but a bit far out....spent a lot of money on taxis!!!

Room Tip: My room was 3052 right next to the lifts with a view of the sea, very quiet, great !
