“Super comfortable beds and best location”
Reviewed May 5, 2014 via mobile

5 pro's;
1. The staff are super sympathetic and know a great deal about the city. Don't hesitate to ask them about good places around. They will tell you their honest opinion.
2. Beds. Perfect beds. Not too soft and not too firm. The pillows come in two different sizes.
3. Location. Close to the beaches as well as to the great things that the city of Tarifa has to offer.
4. The interior design and the colors of gray and white scales that this hotel have, transmits a calmness that I love.
5. Good water pressure in the shower. Ladies (or gents with longer hair) here it's totally possible to wash your hair here.

3 small con's

1. No shower curtain.
2. Hard to find parking (but have patience because it will be ok.)
3. Internet of the hotel didn't work so well.

We can only repeat all the good things said about this hotel. 1. The location cannot be beat. It is 5 minutes walk from the port. There are cafés and restaurants outside the door. We counted the steps to gelato--100 women size steps. It's not much further to a wonderful seafood restaurant recommended to us by the lady working here--the Pescaderia, where we had the fabulous tuna fixed 4 ways. 2. The room is lovely. The colors are all light wood and beige and white with driftwood look. It is modern looking with a beach feel. We were on the 4th floor and had a great view over the goings on outside. We had perfect quiet when we closed the windows at night. Good hot water in the showers. Immaculately clean. Coffee, tea, cookies and candy in the room. The beds definitely are the most comfortable we have slept in while in Spain. Free Wi-Fi (and fast) in the rooms. There is an elevator so no problem with rooms on the 4th or 5th floors. 3. Value. Our room was around $100 US. 4. Parking. We could unload in front and we parked on the street about 5 steps away for only a couple of euro each night. There is free parking at the port as well, but it was full at times. And finally 5. The staff. Every one spoke English quite well and were wonderfully helpful with all requests. They made us feel as though we were honored guests.

Room Tip: Higher floors with good views over the street.

What a really great location this hotel is at. Right slap bang in the centre of the town . The bedrooms are beach lime washed wood style. Great beds. Wifi free. Air con. Just lovely. No hotel parking BUT We got street parking outside the hotel. A little tip: parking is more available after 3pm,when the shop keepers etc are having a siesta. After 4.30 things get busy again. Also u can park overnight but u must put up a ticket and pay 2€ which saves u getting up early to do so, the parking ticket only kicks in at 10am the following day. U can walk 20 meters to numerous cafes for breakfast or Desayuno. About 5€each. Tarifa is a great town to holiday in. Lively open all night cafes, bars, people out and about. Bohemian, arty, with wonderful beaches nearby. Windsurfers paradise. Don't miss it.. The reception is present all day and evening and are extremely helpful. There are three hotels in this little group. This is the second one we've stayed in and definitely would stay again.

We wondered why this hotel has so many rave reviews yet it only has one star. I guess that is because it doesn’t have a restaurant for most of the year, preferring to hand out breakfast vouchers to guests to use in nearby cafes. With only a handful of rooms (14), this probably makes economic sense to the management. There is a restaurant attached to the building, which opens in the late morning and is good for evening meals.

We were there in April, just as Holy Week was beginning, so Tarifa was full and processions made their way slowly through the narrow alleys. A perfect viewing platform is offered by the suite at the Misiana, on the flat roof and we made full use of it.

The hotel is best described as bijou-boutique. We only had the suite as a room reference, but it was delightful, quirky, decorated in subdued ‘distressed’ colours and full of wood, from the wooden floors to the driftwood fittings and ornaments. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

The suite comes with a private suntrap terrace with loungers, ideal if the wind isn’t too severe – Tarifa is best-known as a windsurfers’ paradise. Thick dressing gowns, flatscreen TV, bottle of cava in the refrigerator and very good ‘smellies’ in the bathroom where there is a large tub and a separate shower. There is also free wi-fi – something which the big hotel groups who still charge for it should note.

The hotel has a ‘sister’ establishment a short walk away, La Casa de la Favorita, which is designed and run on very similar lines and, according to guests, just as quirky and just as enjoyable.

The suite at the Misiana is not cheap at 215 euros per night, but you may decide that the experience is worth it. We did and will certainly return.

Room Tip: If you can afford it - definitely the suite.

We were six Americans and one Spanish friend spending a night in Tarifa before catching a ferry to Morocco the next day for a tour of Tangier. I found Hotel Misiana through Trip Advisor and we could not have been happier. It has a wonderful location in the old town, just a couple of blocks from the port where we caught the jet ferry to Tangier, Morocco.

The young lady at the reception desk was very helpful, with great English skills and recommendations for nearby bars, restaurants, and a place to get a good breakfast just down the street. She also directed us to a large FREE public parking lot just a few blocks from the hotel. We were able to park our cars in front of the hotel to unload luggage, then parked them safely in the public lot.

The hotel seems to be new, VERY clean, and very stylish, with wonderful color combinations of floors, baseboards and walls, and neat features like tree limbs used as clothes rods in the closets. Beautiful original artwork on the walls throughout. We all agreed the beds were the best we've seen on our Spanish vacation, and the free Wi-Fi was the fastest we have ever seen.

Our rooms were on the top floor with a great view of the old fortress and the sea, just a couple of blocks away, and the elevator made it easy to get to.

During our tour of Tangier the next day, the hotel was kind enough to let us store our luggage there for the day, and we retrieved it after returning to Tarifa in the late afternoon. We only stayed one night, but the hotel and its neighborhood made us wish we'd stayed several days. Just a wonderful place. I recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have great views, and the elevator means no stairs to climb.

Thank you!
As we are the nearest port to Morocco, we have many guests that get surprised about Tarifa when staying staying here.
Maybe next time you'll come time enough to discover and to enjoy the paradise that Tarifa is.
Our best wishes

We booked the suite of the hotel for a 2 night break. Although the room was smaller then I expected it was stylishly decorated with large flat screen tv and large roof terrace with amazing views of the town.

Great location just a minutes walk from the old church, bars and restaurants.

The manager was very friendly and helpful, and leaving a bottle of cava in the fridge was a nice touch.

If we go back to Tarifa it would be hard not to stay here again.

Like other reviewers we were in town for one night, I did a quick Trip Advisor search and chose this hotel based on other reviews. It totally lived up to the recommendations. The front desk staff was very warm and gracious. The decor modern and comfortable. The location was right in the heart of the old town and there were a few cafes nearby that were open all the time even when others in town were closed. We were given a voucher for breakfast at a nearby cafe that was very authentic. Great stay.
