Booked a table for 8pm. Place was empty and didnt seem to fill up until 10pm when we were are deserts! Menu doesnt really have starters or mains, you just say what you want and say if u want it first or sevond or at same time. We ordered the aubergine then garlic octopus and then morrocan lamb, all dishes were simple but delicious. House wine was ok. Desert of homemade brownie and my husband had mojito sorbet which was very tasty. The waiter very friendly and great service. Only negative is that the place lacked atmosphere, there was no music! Other than that a bit pricey but food was good so cant complain. We tried to have lunch here but think place is only open from 7pm til late.

My friends and I recently travelled to Tarifa, whilst on holiday in Spain. We hired a car, so it was perfect to get to see some great places. Whenever we go travelling, my friend and I always take a Lonely Planet guide with us, because they are great for recommending quirky places to eat, visit and stay etc. Mandragora was highly recommended, and we couldn't wait to try it out. When we arrived at Mandragora at 3pm, we wanted to know what time they opened for the evening. At 7pm, we returned with rumbling bellies and were welcomed by friendly waiters and a beautiful interior decor. The menu was amazing. I chose the Lamb with Plums and Almonds. It was absolutely delicious, especially with a glass of red wine. We had a tapas of battered seaweed, which was incredible and an artisan bread selection. The anchovy bread was definitely a favourite. I would recommend Mandragora to couples and friends for a great atmosphere and amazingly tasty food.

The restaurant was recommended to us locally, and we were not disappointed, having contacted the owner of the restaurant to arrange a special wedding dinner, the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming.
They allowed us to dress the table for the party and recommended dishes for us to try.
The food was exceptional, a great choice of entre meses, falafal, grilled prawns salads and cous cous, the main courses were excellent from the vegetarian cous cous to the lamb Tagine which was the taste of morrocco itself.
the ambience was terrific and the attention to our party was first class.
Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Tarifa.

If you do not want to eat tapas, Mandragora is the perfect solution.
Situated in the old town of Tarifa, this hidden restaurant offers a great variety of typical Moroccan dishes, cooked at the moment with high quality ingredients.

Do not miss the various starters and, as main course, the tagine or the cous cous!!

The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great.

This restaurant had been recommended in Lonely Planet and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is located in the heart of the Old Town in Tarifa just up a side street and is internally decorated in Moorish style.

To start we shared with our two friends a spinach salad and some falafel. Both dishes were excellent and well presented. For the mains we all had different dishes, one of u s had octopus and the rest of us lamb done in three different ways. All the dishes were magnificent. The wine list was well chosen and good value. The overall bill for four was 126 euros (including two botles of wine and drinking water) which was very reasonable for such fine cooking. When we arrived at the restaurant it empty as it was early by Spanish standards (8.30) but was packed by the time we left and clearly has many local Tarifa regulars.

Charming service from the owner.
