“No transport, No whales, No help whatsoever”

FIRMM Whale Watching
Ranked #6 of 84 Tours in Tarifa

A very bad experience having travelled via bus from Cadiz to be greeted with the news that a) the service is entirely reliant on customers having their own cars which isn't mentioned in any of the advertisements b) no whales c) the trip isn't from Tarifa at all but from an isolated bay 45 minutes away. The staff offered to 'try' to place us in a car with other tourists but this seemed very vague and unappealing as their was a distinctly unprofessional vibe. No offer of public transport alternatives and very little help to facilitate trip for those without a car. Overall very poor service which should make explicitly clear of it's rather immediate limitations. Very unfriendly and unhelpful staff.

The information briefing you get before you go on the boat, is great.
We have seen Lots of wales, dolphins. Profesional people knowing what they do, and where they talk about.

Before going to the boat, we got a briefing with information over firmm, whales and this area.
Was quite interesting and better explained than with other whale watching tours.
We got on a small boat, the sea was rough, so my partner and I we took the place under the roof.
It was pretty bumpy during the tour and a few people got soaked wet because of the waves.
we've seen pilot whales and bottle nose dolphins.
It was an OK experience, since we saw the same kind the day before…

All in all it's surely one of the first and best organisations, because the president Katharina Heyer sure is serious about the research she is doing.
Not like other tours, that only want to gather money. So better go and support firmm and you will be sure to see these whales a bit longer in the straits of gibraltar.

We were there with two teenagers and a smaller child and the whole operation is very professional. You first get an introduction in the harbour and then you go out with a modern boat, giving you as much sheltered or unshelterd space as you want. We saw lots and lots of whales very close to the boat and we would recommend it to everybody!

Took the family, 3 children ages 12, 10, 10 and they really enjoyed it. It took time to get to the general area where the whales could be found and then we spent and hour finding various schools of whales and then 30 mins to return to Tarifa. The FIRMM were really good. Need to book in advance via phone as this is popular.
