“Best paella experience”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

Enjoying paella at Ayo's is not just about the dish itself. It is the experience of watching the famous dish being created over a huge open fire; watching the 'seconds' lines form when a fresh one is being brought from the fire to the serving table; marvelling at the speed of service that sees hundreds served during a weekend lunchtime and enjoying the simple pleasure of life, sipping an excellent sangria listening to the happy chatter of the locals whose extended families all seem to congregate here on a Sunday. It isn't possible to eat at Ayo's and feel anything but pleasure at the goodness of the simple food and the happy company. Sitting there in the sunshine makes you happy to be alive.

“Great place with great food.”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Right on the beach. THe place to go on a lunch time. Look up the website menu.

They have a varied selection but most go for the specially prepared paella.

These are made in huge pans over BBQ fires. The owner cooks and serves most days. He's the older guy with the grey hair and pony tail and the protective leggings !!

Paella is prawns in shell with chicken and pork. Not too fishy. Great taste and great value. SIX euro plus you can go back for seconds !!! Wine 6.5 euro per bottle. Lunch with wine a coffee plus bread for a couple will in most cases be less than 25 euro.

Try it you will not be disaapointed.

6.50 for the most delicious and plentiful paella I have ever tasted at a lovely beach front location soaked in Mediterranean sunshine.

“Very good value”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

On a day trip to Nerja from Marbella, we stopped at Ayo's famous paella spot. Apparently he has been making paella to the same recipe in the same place for over 40 years - so it was definitely worth checking out. The paella itself was definitely not the best I have ever had...in fact, it was just OK. However, it was very good value at 6.5 Euros and the fact that you could eat as much as you like will appeal to many. The restaurant scores well with me as the service provided was very good and their prices were reasonable - with unfettered beach view. There are not many places on the costa where you could have paella and sangria for one for 10 Euros...

“Great beach restaurant”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

The Paella is fantastic and it is great to watch them making it - really adds to the flavour!! The restaurant serves 100s but is fast and efficient and not expensive. All in all a great place to eat.
