Hostal Residencia Mena is right in the centre of Nerja about 2 min walk from the 'Balcony of Europe' and also walking distance to the bus stop if you're arriving by bus. The room was a reasonable size and had a balcony and ensuite bathroom. It's a small hotel (about 10 rooms) and family run so not like those big resorty places. The owners speak a little English which was good since my Spanish is almost non-existant. As it's mainlya family oepration the owners close the reception for most of the afternoon so it wouldn't be convenient if you're arriving at an odd time. There was no air conditioning or breakfast served but at only 37 euros for a double it was pretty good value. They provide towels - the only hostal I stayed at in Spain that did!
Would recommend this hotel to all independent travellers on a budget.
