“Lovely week's holiday”
Reviewed May 1, 2014

We stayed here for a week in mid-April, booked through Expedia. As a family group, we requested 3 rooms together, which the hotel fulfilled. Overall we thought the hotel was excellent - spotlessly clean, lovely pool area, well maintained and friendly, polite staff. Kitchenette was useful and rooms were spacious, with very large balconies. The weather was lovely and we used the pool most days.
As it was the school holidays, there were quite a few families with children (including ours), but we didn't see any bad behaviour and the range of generations staying seemed to get on very well. (Regarding a previous review, I would suggest that, if you want to avoid children, then perhaps booking into a family oriented hotel during the school holidays is not that great an idea!) The only disturbance we experienced was from a few inconsiderate people (adults!), returning to their rooms late at night talking loudly, but you always get that in hotels.
We didn't opt for all inclusive, just B & B, as we like to get out and about on holiday and try the local restaurants - there are several good ones within 5 mins walk, such as Paraiso de Nerja (turn left out of hotel and few mins walk along main road) and Chiringuito Mauri (5 mins along beach towards Nerja - quite basic but delicious fish). The breakfast was very good and we had dinner in the hotel a couple of times, which featured a wide range of food, some cooked freshly before your eyes. Again, we're not the biggest fans of hotel buffets, but we were pleasantly surprised.
Agree with previous comments that the hotel has insufficient indoor seating in the evenings, but for the summer there is plenty of space outside. There were often long queues at the bar with people keen to make the most of their all-inclusive deal; presumably this is a hotel tactic to avoid "giving away" too many drinks!
We thought the hotel was good value and would definitely recommend it. It is out of town, so if you don't like walking it's probably best to hire a car - there's lots to see in the area.

Room Tip: South or west facing rooms get the most sun. Rooms overlooking the pool would probably be noisy on a...

Our second trip to this hotel, we love Nerja anyway but this hotel is brilliant for all inclusive holidaymakers. Food and drink and staff, especially Agurspina and Alberto in the restaurant were brilliant and work so hard. The position of the hotel is perfect and the rooms are large, bright and clean, on the whole an excellent stay.

Room Tip: ground floor rooms on the west side are excellent with private terraces away from the pool if you wa...

We stayed at the Marinas April 20 to 25. The hotel is beautiful, clean and in a great location if you don't mind the 20 minute walk a long the beach to Nerja or 5 minute bus ride which stops right outside the hotel and only costs 1 euro. The rooms are nice and the staff were helpful. However, I had emailed before our visit asking for a high floor with ocean views and when we arrived they gave us a room on the ground floor with no view at all. I asked for a higher floor with an ocean view and was told they only had 1 other room available for that night on the first floor. we took that fro the first night and asked the next day to be moved and were moved to a room right on the front of the hotel on the 3rd floor which was great. The only problem with this hotel for us (3 sisters who just wanted a relaxing few days as we had not seen each other in a while and had picked this hotel as most of the reviews said it was quiet and relaxing and was popular with SAGA tours so thought the crowd would be older) was the fact it was overrun with families with kids. Most of the parents didn't seem to have any control or care about what their children did and just let them run riot everywhere, including the dining room and especially in the lounge bar at night. There were kids running around in the bar at all times of the day and night even as late as 11pm. Some of the older guests on the SAGA tours looked a bit bewildered by all the kids running a round and did not seem pleased about it. I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for some where quiet and relaxing to stay.

Room Tip: We had room 346 which was lovely on the front of the building and so not as noisy as overlooking the...

Stayed for few days. Could not fault hotel food great, staff extremely helpful, rooms clean, view superb. Went for a relaxing stay and got over and above. The town is close by bus or walk (about 20 mins walking) with a donkey sanctuary on way which is fantastic. Tennis courts, ping pong table at hotel and night entertainment is brilliant mixture of tradicional songs from man who plays guitar, sings and plays saxophone and theres even flamenco!!

I stayed here recently with my family. We asked prior to arriving for rooms together and we were on the bottom floor 5 rooms apart so not bad. The room was nice, clean and spacious but I was constantly woken up by barking dogs in the field next to us! Whilst there it was 2 party members birthdays and I had to remind staff despite informing them and granted they put champagne in the rooms. The waiting on and bar staff are nice enough but the reception staff are quite rude and not interested in customer service at all. The food was good for all inclusive, always very hot and good choice, although puddings were disappointing . The hotel grounds are lovely and kept clean and the place Nerja is itself beautiful. Just a recommendation too visit Frigiliana it us stunning, it's a €15 taxi ride but well worth it.
All on all a nice holiday and the hotel was nice. Not quite 4 star standard but a very decent 3.5.

We stayed at the Marinas for a week over the Easter Holidays. To be quite honest you could not fault the hotel for anything. We were all inclusive and the quality of the food was excellent and varied. A good selection of drinks at the bar, San Miguel draft beer and Cava as part of the all inclusive. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was of an acceptable standard, and they were cleaned daily. The pool area was nicely laid out with plenty of sunbeds for everyone, the only downside being early in the year the pool was quite cold and the outside bar was not open, but the indoor bar is only another 20 yards walk. Evening entertainment was a bit naff some nights no different to anywhere else in the world (its not Vegas) and as for previous reviews moaning about queuing for drinks at the bar, you don't wait any longer to be served than anywhere else you would go to. But what we paid for a weeks all inclusive stay it was very good value for our money, and all in all a very good experience and would definitely stay again.

P.S Just a note on other peoples comments about it being SAGA city at least the older generations all have manners, and are better behaved than some of the younger ones that were staying there.

We stayed at the Marinas in mid-March for a couple of nights, as we were driving along the Spanish coast and dropped in to see if they had rooms available. They gave us a nice apartment, with kitchenette - though we had breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant (we took the meal package). The pool was not yet open, so cannot comment on that. Because it was early in the season, the hotel was not all that busy, so we had no problems with long waits (entertainment seemed to be all but absent too). The apartment itself was bright and clean, with a nice balcony and nice pool and sea view. We also used the Spa one day - it is nice, but needs a bit of updating. The food was OK, fairly basic and not as tasty as the Spanish food we are used to, but passable, and sufficiently varied that it passed muster. Service was good overall. I would have a hard time giving it four stars, but would place it somewhere between 3.0 - 3.5 for an all-inclusive type. We would like to stay at this place in the summer some time!
