Though we have used tripadvisor many times over the past years and have written a number of reviews, we are somewhat puzzled by the ranking order of the restaurants, till example here in Nerja. We have visited over the past weeks many of the recommended resrtaurants ( Oliva, Don Chisicotte, Jacky's to name a few) but the best culinairy experience we had in Fusion.
The place may be a bit upmarket for most, but the value for the money is exeptional.
First of all one should mention the overall appearance of the place, unlike most in Spain it is clean, cosy and tastfully decorated.
Secondly the welcome and placing of the tables is good,`with enough room for privacy but still enough feeling for the rest of the guests.
Then the most iportant of all the food:
We were presented a fine ameuse of e coliflower essence with a drop of truff oil exellent combination.
The two diffrent entrees of escalops and deer were very nice. The scallops were accompanied by a jullienne of granny smith with a little sorbet of the same and some dried iberico ham. A very nice dish with all the contrasts of sweetness of the scallops, the saltiness of the ham and the freshness of the apple. A very harmonious and delicate "fusion".
The main were filet - very well cooked and portionned and wild boar accompanied with an Eastern soup of fresh vegetables. Again a very harmonious dish with nice contrasts and
a pleasure for the eye and palatte.
Dessert was a creme brulee with a fresh raspberry sorbet. The other sorbet was fresh strawberry,
All in all good portions, nicely presented and verry verry tasty!!
A word to the wine.
The wine card is not very extensive, but well composed. Some of the wine can be ordered by the glass others only by the bottle.
If we should make a comment it is like in most places, that the pricing of the wine is not too favourable. I would recommend to almost every place reduce the price and make the total eating experience even better by making the wines more affordable.
We were 2 persons and had a bottle of red "10" very nice syrah and a couple of white wines total bill ran up to 150 euro.
