Stayed here at the end of August. Perfect weather - super hot, beautiful beaches a few minutes walk away, homemade ice cream shop a few doors down, cheap drinks - beer cheaper than soft drinks!
Had a lovely holiday here with my boyfriend. The hotel is really in a perfect location, u feel like you're on holiday but aren't surrounded by soulless hotel blocks of other tourists like in some streets of Nerja. Would definitely go back.

We had a week here in a superior room, with breakfast & have no complaints whatsoever and would recomend to anyone coming to Nerja.
The location is fantastic & so close to where it all happens in Nerja. Our room was at the back of the hotel & we weren't bothered by any noise at all during our stay. The room was plenty big enough, decent bathroom & comfy beds!! Maid service excellent too.
The breakfast is served in a basement room with no windows & yes it could perhaps be served upstairs but it was fine. if you're expecting full English this is not the place for you... Basic continental breakfast with enough choice to start your day & nice coffee.
The pool area is compact but we never had trouble getting a sunbed. Good views & just right for relaxing. No the snack bar was not open but there is a vending machine or take your own drinks!!
Overall this is a great little hotel & I'm glad we chose it for our stay in Nerja.

just read the 2 previous reviews and we were there at the same time--on our 1st day we went up to the roof top pool which was quite full of the afformentioned "wedding guests" who, with their children were having a great time in the pool --quite noisy but not a problem to us until another individual turned up,pint glass in hand obviously had one or two and his first words were to one of the children (about 5 years old) was "get them F****** armbands on"--I thought I had misheard but he repeated something similar later--we then left .That night was as described previously-doors banging --people shouting -the sound of others vomiting when they came back in the early hours. These people seemed quite oblivious to the fact other people not included in their party were staying at the hotel--they couldn't have given a monkeys!.The day after we bought some earplugs and managed to get some sleep after that.I have to say that apart from the thoughtless wedding party the hotel was fine--nothing special but very clean and the breakfast was adequate--very central location on a busy square where you would expect some degree of noise (not the level we endured)--it is no longer the Spanish hideaway it used to be but it would not deter us from returning.

Just returned from my fourth trip to Nerja and first stay at the Plaza Cavana and as the previous visitor wrote, we won’t be staying again either due to the noise ! After an early flight, we arrived, checked in and were directed to the Attic Room 303. On entering our first impression was this was not the room we requested, as all we could see was a window and no terrace. I went to Reception and was told that on my booking I asked for a Superior Room with Front Facing Terrace on Floor 3. Looking at the hotel from the photos, I assumed Floor 3 was the higher floor of rooms with terraces facing the square but after I was walked outside in front of everyone to be shown very loudly that Reception was Ground Floor not Floor 1, meaning the higher rooms are therefore classed as Floor 2 with a balcony not a terrace, Floor 3 was on in fact the roof and we got exactly what we asked for. The lady then rabruptly dismissed me and said the hotel was full and we couldn’t change rooms. However, her assistant said a Floor 2 Room was free and we could have a look so after doing so, hearing the noise from the square below and being made to feel a bit of an idiot, we decided to stay with 303 because by this time my partner had found the terrace door (hidden behind a thick curtain) and as it overlooked the pool and sea we thought it would be quieter…..but oh how wrong could we be ! Sitting on our Superior Terrace enjoying the Superior View would have been lovely if we didn’t have the constant Superior Humming Noise of the hotel generator on our roof loudly clicking on and off every 3 minutes 24 hours a day. To escape this noise we went into the room to then hear a constant sound below us similar to a loud industrial washing machine with a squeak. Both sounds were continuous throughout the night and 2 days after our arrival and no sleep we complained to the Receptionist who said she would make a note of it….but it mustn’t of been a big note as the noise continued through the holiday along with inconsiderate guests slamming doors and letting their kids run and scream through the corridors which echoed throughout the hotel.

Regarding the pool, it’s quite small and as we are beach people (lovely Burianna Beach being a 20 mins walk away) we didn’t want to sunbathe round it particularly after one evening a group of drunken guests had broken the grill around the outside of the pool, spilt beer in the water and were told to leave. The website advertises an outdoor pool snack bar but this is continually closed so if you want a drink or snack you have to use the vending machine. The website also mentions rooms have mini bars. Our room didn’t have one but we did have an empty fridge so if this is what they constitute as a mini bar, it’s a permanently empty one !

On the few up sides, the house keeping is immaculate, the towels and bedding are changed every day and the bar area is quite nice. Louis and Meltsa are very welcoming and friendly in serving drinks and tapas, which are free when you sit at the bar and order a drink. Breakfast is served in the basement and sn’t as depressing as people have commented but it isn’t great either and could actually be served in the bar upstairs so at least you have an option to eat outside. They have a good selection of cereals, cakes, croissants, hams, cheeses, fruits etc but as usual when you are abroad, you won’t get an english breakfast and it baffles us as to why so many UK tourists think they should be provided with one when in another country. They do have a toast machine though and a good selection of bread, which again seems to be a tourists obsession.

Nerja is still beautiful and unique with amazing bars and restaurants which we love but I feel it is being spoilt slightly by the mass tourist wedding groups, so if this is what you are into for your holidays, go for it but if you are wanting a quiet hotel where you’ll get a good rested night sleep, I wouldn’t recommend you stay at the Plaza Cavana, which is ashame as the location is perfect.

Room Tip: Pick a quiet room if they have one !

Having read the previous review I felt that I had to write a review in support. I think that we must have been at the Plaza Cavana at the same time and everything they said is absolutely true. We also have been visiting Nerja for 20 years and this was our 4th visit to this hotel. The resort has become extremely popular with Irish weddings over the recent years but in the 10 days that we were there, there were 5 weddings. The resort is not usually full of large groups - 30 or more with each wedding - all in party mood. It has been a little spanish haven for us over the years but I suppose all things come to an end. The hotel was very disappointing in that it did not have systems in place to deal with unruly guests. I have written to the hotel to explain my concerns and also the fact that we booked the hotel 6 months in advance and asked for a quiet room - specifically we asked for Room 301 or a second floor room. We were allocated Room 103 - directly over the entrance to the hotel - couldn't have been noisier - resulting in us hearing the revellers coming home until 4.30 in the morning and not having a good nights sleep for the whole holiday. We wrongly assumed that the hotel would look after its returning guests - as yet we have not received a response to our email and suspect that the management of the hotel do not read the reviews on Tripadviser. We will return to Nerja at some point but not to the Plaza Cavana.

Having just arrived back form Nerja I felt I needed to write a review. We have just had a fabulous two weeks . The hotel was in a fantastic central location, walk out at night , a minute away to the balcon de Europa and watch the artists drawing caricatures and sit and people watch with an ice cream.
Eat and drink in one of the many lovely bars and restaurants and wander round the pretty streets.
The hotel itself is right in plaza cabana square and so is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
The Spanish families stay up late and so yes, it is noisy. We weren't on the main square but facing onto a side road, where early morning the dustbin men make no bones about making a load of noise, that said, it didnt wake my husband or children from their sleep!!!

The room was spotless, lovely bathroom and every day we had clean towels and children's sleepwear neatly folded and teddies made comfy!!!

The pool was very small but really clean and as other reviewers have said there weren't many beds. In fact, it doesn't open til 10 and so you had to queue to be guaranteed getting a sun bed. snack bar never open. But lovely rooftop views and the chimes of the nearby church were just lovely. Very relaxing and just the place to unwind.

We have two young children with us and were a bit conscious of them either splashing too much or making too much noise as other couples were quietly sunbathing and for this reason I don't think the hotel is the most suitable for families. this was reinforced by the fact that they were virtually the only children there and if you choose to bring children they could lack sufficient stimulation. Thank goodness a couple of other children arrived during the second week and they all had great fun together !

We chose the hotel as a base , to enjoy a chilled out atmosphere and to explore the local area.

The breakfast room is awful!!!! depressing and in the basement, lacks choice, the same every day, but the kids ate the coco pops and the croissants ,I don't know why it was down there when I am sure the restaurant area could have been used for breakfast instead.

Nerja is a fantastic town with beaches close to the hotel, a trip to frigliana was lovely and the Nerja caves worth a visit . We also had an overnight stay in Granada which was just stunning ! The local bus took us there and brought us back - the scenic route back was stunning, but hair raising!!!

All in all it was a lovely holiday, Nerja is beautiful and the hotel was lovely and clean with very helpful staff.

Room Tip: Not sure about this, I recommended a quiet room and it certainly wasn't quiet, it faced onto the...

Just spent two weeks at this hotel, great location, very clean but noisey oh my god noisey did not have 1 good nights sleep I know its mentioned in other reviews but did not realise how bad, I live in central London on a main road but this hotel made my home feel like its in the country, also advertise roof top pool with snack bar, well snack bar was never open instead vending machines also get there early to get a sun bed but don't burst a gut not the most comfortable sun beds i've laid on, bar/restaurant downstairs very nice, tapas, wine etc etc oh and sit down meal available as long as you want to eat between 12pm and15.30 closed afterwards till 20.00 not very good, gym and indoor pool with Jacuzzi and sauna but be prepared to pay a very high price to use them.
I would go back to Nerja beautifull location would I stay at the Cavana no I'm afraid this hotel is more suited for the deaf or youngsters who come in at 5 in the morning totally off they're faces who would just pass out till late evening, such ashame because its a lovely hotel in a great location BUT.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the inner court yard not street side our room number was 112
