We stayed here in the middle of January for 2 weeks and the hotel is situated in an ideal spot for the town with everything close by. The only snag is that the transfer coaches cannot get to the hotel and you are dropped off at another hotel then the hotel's minibus takes you to a car park a short walk from the hotel as it is sited in a pedestrian only area during the day. The room we had overlooked the Balcon, sea and reception with a balcony and was nice, some of the rooms overlook the beach and also have balconies but the rooms without a balcony look over a side street. The main restaurant for the hotel is on the 4th floor serving a buffet breakfast and evening waiter served meal which makes a refreshing change from the usual buffet. The breakfasts were the usual eggs various ways, bacon, tomatoes etc cereals and toast with the waiters serving coffee. The evening meals were usually a choice of 4 options for starter, main and desert and with me being a fussy eater I still found something to eat.
The hotel has 2 lifts one only going from the 6th floor (reception ) to the 9th floor and the other lift (and a service lift) is at the oposite end of the hotel operating from 0 the beach and bar / restaurant to the 9th floor. Beware of these lifts as the door sensors sometimes don't work and several people including ourselves were hit by the doors when they closed and the doors tend to open before the lift has stopped on the floor level. The restaurant at the beach unfortunately does not serve snacks and after a large breakfast many of us didn't want a full meal at lunch time so if you want a snack at lunch you need to go to the snack bar at ground / reception level or at one of the many bars / restaurants close by.
There is a small pool and sunbeds on the 5th floor but the wind blew across the area all the time we were there. The staff at the hotel were all excellent with no complaints. There is free wifi for guests which seemed to cover the whole hotel you just have to get a user name and password from reception. Even though it was January there were plenty of shops, bars etc open but they do close for Siesta time.
Nerja is a nice place un comercialised unlike many other resorts in the Costa's. Would we go back Yes but not in the height of the season as the beach area is open to the public as well as hotel guests and it is only a small area which would soon get very busy.

Room Tip: Get a limited sea or sea view room with a balcony as the non balcony rooms overlook a side street.

We went to this hotel over Christmas it was lovely, there was plenty of entertainment such as a gala dinner and new year dinner if you wanted, the food was brilliant.
The room was really nice, could not fault it, and a good location. That's the good bit
Our advice is not to book through Roomsnet, we had fully paid them weeks before Christmas and they did not pay the hotel so the room was cancelled! We could not get in touch with them on emergency number as they were closed for the holidays!!!!!!!!!
On a happy note the Europa had a room luckily but we had to pay again, and try to claim it back from Roomsnet, and will never use them again.

We have stayed at this hotel now on two occasions. The last on 21st September 2012. This is a lovely hotel with a beautiful beach and wonderful location. However, on both occasions we have had our stay ruined by noisy Irish weddings. Our last stay was for a long weekend with 4 night stay and every night we had to endure sleepless nights with a different weeding party every night and even people being sick outside our hotel room.....not a good experience and such a shame.

Great Location over looking the sea.

It must have been amazing when it first opened but looks a little dated now.

Its still great value for money though and the staff where very friendly.

Would stay there again if I returned to Nerja.

We arrived at 11:30 having been delayed at Gatwick due to de icing queues because of the snow.. The staff were really obliging. The porter went to ask the barman to delay closing ,so we could have a drink as he realised w hat a long journey we had had. The bar man threw in a bowl of nuts 'gratis'.

On entering My heart was not full of great optimism at the thought of what our room might be like and so it was that we were delighted with 301 which looked directly onto the bay with a larger than thought, balcony..even in January we sat on it. it was also pleasingly decorated tho a little small...We were only there for one night but discovered a lovely sunny breakfast room overlooking the sea an acceptable breakfast with plenty of choice and very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel had a ' family' feel and is situated on a lovely plaza adjoining a square, with fabulous views over the med ..We stayed at the Riu Monica last time we were here ...and If I were to get a hotel here again; this would be my preference !

Room Tip: Choose 301 for an intimate sea view but not if you require a lot of space... For a short stay it's perfect. Call hotel if delayed.. Etiquette and they will be better prepared.
