“Lovely location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2014

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Great location right in the beach about a 10 minute walk to the beautiful town centre of Nerja, which is still quite Spanish. Lots of good bars and restaurants. Hotel was spotless, the only downside was that the breakfast wasn't great, but only 5 euros!!

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a balcony

The key factor in this hotel is its location. It is directly on the beach with only a promenade to cross to access the beach and sea. We had a room with a sea view and it is definitely worth the upgrade. The hotel is comfortable without being luxurious. The room was fine with space for everything but not huge. The bed was comfortable and the the curtains and blinds created a complete blackout so along with the sound of the sea (we left the patio door slightly open) we slept comfortably and peacefully.
Breakfast was in the second part of the hotel across a quiet road. It was a self-service buffet that covered all the angles. I could have done with a fresh fruit salad (but there was enough fruit to make my own) and the orange juice dispensed from the machine was alarmingly sweet. The coffee was fine and the hot food fine even though it never varied.
The pool area was pretty compact (and the pool very small) but there were lots of beds around it (though many of these were in poor shape and could not be adjusted). We did not swim in the pool preferring to stroll across the prom to the sea and swim there on our beach days.
It was a short walk to the Balcon de Europa and the centre of town and a slightly longer one to the bus station.
The reception staff were very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate any requests we had. The only minor niggle was the wi-fi which worked fine in the public areas but was very variable in the room (just to remind us of home).
Overall a very comfortable, welcoming and well located hotel. Not luxurious but makes up for it in location and friendliness.

Room Tip: Sea view recommended.

We booked this hotel as it had sea views on offer and wow, what views. Our 4th floor room was not small as people have previously said. We were in the annex and felt the room was of an adequate size. The balcony was also great to sit on listening to the waves on an evening. The cleaners came in everyday and there were always fresh towels. The breakfast in our opinion was a poor affair, so in a 10 day holiday we only bothered to go for it twice for toast. The hot food was cold and not replenished and the drinks from the machines were of poor quality. We decided to venture out and have coffee and toast elsewhere. The food in the restaurant/cafe bar overlooking the sea was great and reasonably priced. There were hardly any tables free during the day, so they must be doing something right. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the Balcon De Europa area and we went there most days. Nerja is a lovely location and we plan to return.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view room if you can afford it.

Not a 4 star even by Spanish standards, surprised this is a sercotel hotel.
Accommodation - room was small and cramped, 2 single beds for 3 people, took 4 hours to get a cot for our 2 yr old as there were no pull outs available. Insufficient wardrobe space, we stayed for 5 nights and the wardrobe was tiny. A rickety dressing table, half of which was taken up by a tv. The fridge underneath was frozen and tiny, barely kept milk cold for my little boy. The one drawer was broken and we took it off to prevent injury from day one, it was not repaired despite advising reception of same on day 3. My hubby broke a glass in the bathroom and there were still bits on the floor on the last day. The room was not swept in the 5 days.
The hallway was filthy, I mean filthy, no exaggeration, and was not hoovered in the time there
Breakfast buffet was standard, no complaints. The bar in the main building was open and ok apart from slow service, none of the other bars were open despite the hotel being at full capacity.
I stay in a lot of Spanish hotels as I live here and am used to the claim of 4 star when it's not and am generally quite forgiving but this place didn't meet any poor expectations I hacked given that I read other reviews here.
On the other hand, several of my family members were staying int the apartments, despite them being a little outdated, hey were by far the best I've seen in many places, well appointed, spacious, with washing machines, and generally comfortable.

Room Tip: Choose an apartment!!

Stayed here before, but on the first floor with a sea view. This time got a sea view on the ground floor - over the pool - very much more noise until the bathers went to bed!
Rooms ok, staff ok, breakfast ok. Breakfast is in the other building across the road. Set up is a little weird and you have to wander from side to side and up and down to compile your breakfast as the buffet is laid out on different stands.
Other than that the hotel is ok.

Room Tip: Go for higher floors if you want a sea view!

Just back from a one week stay at the Perla Marina. Having been there 4 years earlier we knew what to expect. The hotel is situated by the sea front in a quieter area of Nerja although only 10 mins walk from the main balcon area.

The hotel decor is dated however, it was clean and staff were friendly and very accommodating. The views are great (ask for a sea view). There is a newer extension which has bigger rooms than the main building and a roof top pool.

The previous reviews don't do it justice. You get what you pay for and we were very pleased with the hotel during our stay.

We didn't choose the breakfast as it was €7 per head for a buffet breakfast whereas you can get a better breakfast from a nearby restaurant Jamaica for €4! Other than this I would recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.
