NIce little hotel but unbelievably difficult to access by car or park near. Parking underneath in the car park is "challenging" to say the least and will cost 12 Euros per day (why)? Safe in room 2 Euros a day (why)? Beds are rock hard and the television in our room was a throwback to the 1970's. Staff were very pleasant and in the main spoke decent English. Food was just ok but the waiters were obviously trained by Basil Fawlty and liked to play hide and seek. Beach in the front of the hotel was good and sun loungers cost 4 Euros to hire. Ignore the hotel photos in their adverts, they are very, very misleading. This is a decent little 2 star hotel, but deffo not worthy of a 4 star rating. Air con was rubbish.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms in the main hotel seemed best

We stayed at this hotel from Sat 1st Sept to the 8th. From the first warm welcome at reception, we knew we were going to enjoy our stay there. We had booked in for bed and breakfast only, so we knew it would be standard breakfast food. We had already checked out other reviews from T/A, so we knew we wouldn,t starve!

Our room was good, clean, with a comfy bed and spotless bathroom. The view from our balcony was amazing, overlooking the sea and tremendous views of the coast. On venturing outside to the pool area, we found two pools, one for adults, one for toddlers. In truth, the toddler one was way too small and in constant shadow, and although the adult pool was a bit on the small size, we enjoyed using it daily. Especially as the hotel cafe was nearby, meaning no long trecks to buy refreshments. The standard of bar snacks was excellent, and the coffee was the best I have ever tasted. There is another pool across the road at the appartments, which is also owned by the hotel. It is a roof pool and a brilliant sun trap, but no bar or refreshments.

All the staff were polite, keen to help and very efficient. The bar staff in the pool bar were so funny and nothing was too much trouble for them. We didn,t go into the entertainment room at night, as we chose to explore the local area and town center.

This hotel is not really suited to families with young children or teenagers as there is nothing for them to do. Although the hotel is right on the beach, the sand isn't all that nice as it is black sand and a bit coarse. The town of Nerja is a beautiful place, with lots of weddings taking place at the little white church in the town. Nerja dosn't have a bar culture and is more suited to the older couples or singles.

Room Tip: Travel light, you can hire towels. Drink the local spirits, they are a lot cheaper than the well kno...

We recently returned to the Perla Marina this August after a lovely short stay in Malaga. We were given a room in the back annex which we normally prefer as a personal choice. Although the back annex was the most recently refurbished a few years ago our room was now starting to need a lick of paint. Unfortunately a few bulbs needed replacing and the wire to the telephone in the room had been cut and so we could not telephone reception during our stay. The room had a lovely view but although I have a soft spot for this hotel I certainly agree with other reviewers that it is beginning to loose it's 4 star appeal. The breakfast was lovely as usual and fresh eggs continued to be cooked until 10.30am. The roof pool area seems to have been slightly refurbished and the beach side pool is still a lovely spot. If you would like to sunbath in tranquility then I recommend the grassy bedded area facing the sea...beautiful! Overall I still love this hotel and the staff are super helpful, just make sure you book a balcony room!!!!

Would I go back? Yes. Would I book "room only"? Definitely yes!...and there are plenty of cafeterias bars nearby to get breakfast if all you need (like us) is toast & a decent coffee. The hotel's breakfasts are pretty basic, but our room was fine, clean & spacious, comfortable bed, good shower. Not much of a view but that wasn't that important to us as we were out & about most of the time.
Pool's a bit small, but as you are close to the beach...

Whilst the hotel could be described as a little dated, we found it pefectly clean and tidy. Rooms cleaned well every day with clean sheets and towels provided. Staff courteous and helpful when asked. Seaview rooms fabulous. Well worth a little extra. We stayed B&B which allowed us to eat out at night at the plentiful restaurants in Nerja. Amazonas, bella roma and La Taberna delivered fantastic food. Nerja itself is an adorable place, mostly spanish speaking but anyone can get by. All in all, lovely place, lovely people and lovely beachfront hotel.

Room Tip: Worth booking a seaview room as they will be guaranteed a lovely view with the sound of the sea to e...

this hotel is in a wonderful position with superb views of the bay and sea,a little on the outskirts of Nerja a good 15 minute walk or taxi ride to bars cafe nightlife etc. but this makes up for the sea front location and super walk on the front where you will find lovely cafe on the front selling fresh grilled sardines,
Hotel room large clean and comfortable which was at the back of the hotel, rooms with sea view slightly smaller but still comfortable. Staff very friendly, breakfast good but the selection for evening meal poor seem too cater for the spanish holiday folk.

would definateley stay here again.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at Perla Marina. I would love to say it was all wonderful, but while the Hotel is in a fantastic beachside location and near to the town of Nerja the facilities and general appearance let it down a bit.
The Room we had was a sea view with balcony, lovely views and the sound of the sea was lovely, the room itself was quite small and decorated in a dull yellow with peachy accents on the curtains and bedspread, very eighties! No pictures on the Walls to make it a bit more interesting, and surprisingly dark considering the beachfront location.
There was only one socket in the room and one in the bathroom (why do they do that?), no hooks on back of doors to hang stuff, but there were plenty of hangers in the wardrobe.
The staff were nice enough, although not terribly informative unless asked. We thought it odd that there was no information pack available in the rooms as is usual in all hotels. We had to ask about safety deposit box, WiFi, Pool towels, and local bus times. None of this would have been known unless we asked. Yes there are safety deposit boxes €1.50 per day plus €12 deposit, towels can be rented for a returnable deposit of €10 per towel, WiFi is available, but only works in the lobby and there is a charge, Bus timetable is available from reception! How easy would it be to have all this information in a pack? There are probably still things we dont know!
Cleanliness was good. Rooms were cleaned every day, sheets were changed every 3 days. There was a clothes airer on the Balcony, handy for drying off towels and swim gear.
The Pool area is quite small, not the best kept area it has to be said. Loungers a bit grubby, not a lot of umbrellas and we stopped using the pool after a few days when I noticed that it did not appear to have been cleaned. Sand from the beach at the bottom of the pool on day one was still there for the duration of our stay, while it may have been fine, it just put me off. On one occasion there was a smell of stagnant water/faint sewage smell poolside, so it was the beach for us! Also kids (and Adults) dive bombing into the water constantly made it a bit annoying, the area is just too small for that.
The Snack Bar is fine. Nice selection and reasonably priced, handy if you are too lazy to leave the hotel.
The Snack Bar doubles as the Bar in the evenings, a few nights there was entertainment, although thankfully we were late back from Dinner in Nerja to escape the worst of it! Bizarrely the prices seemed to vary, we paid €8.50 to €11.00 for 2 Gin and Tonics, not a huge difference I know, but strange when it was the same brand each time and it was detailed on the receipt.
It could be a fantastic hotel, location wise it is in an amazing location, just a bit of imagination decor wise and a bit of updating and it could be a place you would really want to go to.
