We fouund Nerja to generally be a culinary nightmare but Oliva is one of the few exceptions. The service was excellent and the winelist catered for all pockets. The food was all freshly cooked to perfection, portion sizes were spot on, presentation was very good and timing between courses was also perfect. We would definetely visit again if we were ever in Nerja in the future.

Slightly out of the main eating area of Nerja, but well worth seeking out. Oliva is modern in style. It has a limited menu that is excellently cooked and presented with the dishes being full of flavour. The Blue Fin Tuna was a good choice and the Chardonnay that I chose to accompany it was excellent. The little touches between courses were a delight. The staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the dishes however they did not seem to be assigned to tables so the service did seem to get either doubled up or forgotten in parts, just a bit of work on this and this restaurant will be nothing short of excellent. One tip if you want to eat outside it is worth booking in advance as the outside area is quite small and very busy.

We tried Oliva tonight after finally having enough of typical Nerja tourist fare. It was a hot evening so we sat outside and hoped that it was as good as the reviews stated.

What can I say? The food was outstanding. Each course was presented beautifully, but more importantly, they all tasted amazing.

If you're looking for a lovely atmosphere, great food and good service, I would recommend this resteraunt.

Slightly off the beaten track accessed through a shopping arcade, we nearly did go to find it. What a mistake that would have been! We had no reservation, but they found us a table on the terrace. 30 minutes later, we would have been out of luck and by the time we left, nearly every table was full. So, I would recommend booking.

It is true what other reviewers have said that the décor is very international, but so what? It is a stylish minimalist décor and we really liked it. The service was exceptional being crisp, but very friendly and with a good attention to detail. The meal was paced just right - not rushed, but no very long waits.

As for the food, in a word - stonking! However , beware, Nouvele Cuisine this is not as the portions are very generous. My wife's beef Carpaccio was a large plateful of the most delicious and finely sliced beef with rocket, parmesan and so forth. I had the Pulpo balsamico, beautiful soft octopus served on a bed of smoky butternut squash - unusual and divine. We followed with blue fin tuna, seared and pink inside, with samphire and other vegetables and really well presented. I had he Iberican loin of pork on a bed of lentil and bulgur wheat - fantastic flavours.

A good bottle of red from Malaga (not cheap, but very worthwhile) and finished with a couple of Spanish brandies, this was not a cheap meal, but in my view served very good value. We came away having had a very memorable all round dining experience. This does not happen too often.
