Review of Burriana Beach

Lovely clean beach, with great cafes, bars and restaurants. Very pretty with plenty of sun beds, palm trees and also a children's play area. The only downside would be the steep slope up and down to the beech, but my parents, the eldest being 88 years old managed it twice, so unless you are really unfit/disabled you will manage it.

We have been visiting Nerja for 20 years and have stayed all over town but our favourite place is Burriana beach. We stay in a front line apartment and there is nothing like waking up to breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beach. There is a great selection of bars and restaurants to choose from and we have had some wonderfull lunches at the beach restaurants, our favourite is Merendero Monte Mar. When we have been into town for the evening we always call into H2o bar for a nightcap before bed.

You can't really visit Burriana and not have freshly made Paella from AYO restaurant at the end of the beach. Beach is clean and backed by a range of shops and restaurants and coffee shops.

In the summer this beach is great, full of life and shops and kiosks, perhaps a little too cramped sometimes but in the winter this whole beach shuts down. Which I suppose is great if you fancy a romantic stroll across a deserted beach, if you can handle the cold! On the whole the beach is pretty clean and pleasant, just seems to go from one extreme to the other in terms of how busy it is.

It was a bit of a walk from our hotel, but I'm glad we found it. We stopped for a beer at the bar at the end (Rincon) and it was sunny and beautiful. The constant sales push for trinkets was annoying but more a matter of circumstance rather than a problem with the beach.

The beach itself is lovely. The grainy sand and the cold Med a lovely change from what I'm use to. Loads of food options (I've heard good things about Ayos). Take toilet paper into the loos though.
