Restaurante Jaipur is situated on Calle Los Huertos (not one of the main tourist streets), so for a restaurant to succeed it is necessary to have a good reputation that keeps bringing customers back.
We have been here many times and often see faces of other regulars in the restaurant. One of the main reasons that people keep returning is the authenticity and flavours of the dishes. So many other restaurants use pre-prepared sauces and the varying "hotness" is merely dependent on how much extra chilli pepper is added. In Jaipur, the food is cooked with blends of many different exotic aromatic spices. As you enter the restaurant, the kitchen is openly visible so customers can see the chefs blending the spices as they prepare the dishes.
At lunchtimes they do a very good value Menu del Dia which includes a starter (Onion Bhaji Chicken Pakora or Vegetable Pakora), main of Chicken, Lamb or Vegetable Curry (Korma, Madras) with pillao rice, Ice Cream or Coffee - all for only €9.90.
All the prices on the a la carte menu represent good value - appetisers for between €4 or €5, main dishes between €10.90 and €12.90, bread/nans/roti between €2 and €3. Wines start at 11 Euros.
It depends upon the time of year, of course, but the best tables are on the covered upper terrace at the rear overlooking the courtyard below.
Above all you are warmly greeted and served by the staff who are charming and professional.
Incidentally, besides the main entrance in Calle Los Huertos, it is also possible to enter the restaurant from the rear using an entrance in Los Huertos Car Park.
