“Wow, what hidden gem we've found!”
Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

We stumbled across this restaurant and are we pleased we did! The staff are attentive and friendly, the food however is simply beautiful. The menu has a wide variety of delights to tantalise from 'mummas secret goulash' to an (amazing) entrecote steak. Will definately be back later in the year!

“Eclectic mix.”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

First visit to La Joya and not disappointed, An eclectic mix of food;goulash to tempura to steak, all very good.and all reasonably priced. Starters a little weak. Soup a bit thin and difficult to identify the toasted canape selection, not helped by the low level lighting.
Small , good value wine list, and very helpful attentive staff.
If there are negatives, its the slow pace of service and the inevitable hawkers.

“Frustrating, but good”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

We have used this restaurant on a number of occasions and the food is always very good. Refreshingly better than the bland offerings of a lot of the opposition. Mind you it is hard to blame the opposition as a lot of customers seem happy to eat bland boring food so long as it is cheap and has a non Spanish content.

The ambience in the restaurant is relaxing with good background music. However, it is so frustrating that the service is always so slow! The last time we were there, we waited a full hour between starters and the main course. The result of this is that you drink more! Perhaps this is a cunning ploy! I accept that the food is freshly cooked but the delay causes rumblngs of discontent that can be heard occasionally. We will be back but wont make any arrangements to go anywhere after the meal.

“La Joya - Excellent!”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Another visit to one of the best restaurants in Nerja, this time with my sister (who is vegetarian) and brother-in-law. Wonderful food as ever, great service from Mariana & team. Meeting my sister's exacting standards for veggie food isn't easy but 'La Joya' came up to the mark for sure! A quick word with Mariana at the start of our visit there ensured that my sister's preferences were catered for completely. Excellent evening, excellent food!

“really different and interesting”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

Really nice restaurant run by young couple who obviously care very much about food and about the atmosphere of their restaurant. Decor very original!! Very friendly service, menu not huge but food very interesting and tasty. Good for evening meal, brunch and lunch
