“Sadly, how things can change.”
Reviewed August 12, 2009

Since posting a rave review at the beginning of this year I am sorry to have to say that the situation at El Breine is much altered.
I agree with the sentiments expressed by HeathcliffUK - far too many tables now for the number of unfortunately not very efficient (in the majority of cases) waiting staff, who are clearly under a great deal of pressure.
This in turn has had a negative effect on what used to be a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere, and is being clearly reflected by the number of regular clients who have walked away from the place, my family included.
Making hay while the sun shines is all very well (although judging by the number of customers in the restaurant yesterday as we drove past, even this may not be the case) but there is a long quieter season looming - especially in the current economic climate.
You had it right Antonio - and in the opinion of a growing number of faithful customers who are voting with their feet, you urgently need to review where you are right now, before the slippery slope becomes too steep to climb back up!

“Only if you like waiting two hours to be served”
Reviewed August 11, 2009

Yes, the food at El Breine is (usually) excellent. But too often recently we've had to wait up to two hours to be served, with (if we're lucky) just a bread roll and a drink to keep us going. This is unacceptable, and we shan't be going again. I think that Antonio has got greedy - he has many more tables than his waiter staff can service, or his kitchen provide for.

“MUCHO BUENO”
Reviewed July 11, 2009

I too rate El Breine but can't comment on the Paella as we went in the evening two weeks ago. The food was delicious and excellent VFM. We went on a Thursday when they have Flamenco and a singer. Later, when meal service was finished one of the waiters got nearly all the ladies on to the small stage to join in the dancing, finishing with a conga around the beach. It was a great night with lovely food and would not hesitate to repeat the experience in September. I am ashamed to say, in 22 years of holidaying in Nerja, that this was my first visit... it certainly wont be my last!
