Had an okay experience at La Marina.

Pros:
Quiet location just outside the main tourist area
Spanish rather than tourist vibe
Nice beer (Mahou) and white wine
Aoili good
grilled sole good

Cons:
Dirty table cloths and floor areas (and it was early in the evening!)
Mixed fried fish was drab, with mostly calamari
One waitress petty much threw the change at us, in a hurry rather than malice, but still unimpressed.

So an okay experience, but no spark...

First restaurant visited in Nerja and strong disappointment. Very long order realisation time and dishes not delivered at once. I have finished my small portion while my wife was still waiting for her cuisine. Average food - not worth the price
Floor was covered with napkins and food pieces - not visible for staff

We made another visit to here and happy to report its still excellent . The free tapa selection including prawns to peel are excellent and the atmosphere even on a weekday is busy with locals.
We sometimes sit for a slap up seafood meal but on this occasion happily perched on a bar stool munching a few different tapas.
Definitely one to visit for the atmosphere

My family happened by this restaurant late one lunchtime on our way to the beach and stopped immediately based on the great atmosphere coming from the noisy bar, a clearly Spanish clientele and what looked like a great opportunity to eat some fresh fish. We chose a table (2 young children) but had it just been the pair of us we'd have sat at the bar and rewarded ourselves with beer and free tapas :). We ordered battered prawns, small squid, a tomato salad and grilled haddock and all were very good. We could have selected from a much wider menu - much displayed in a cold cabinet - the fish menu was extensive. Service was efficient if not overly friendly, and we left very satisfied - with both the food and the bill. Highly recommended.
