“What a gem!!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

Booked this hotel on a whim as we were feeling a bit fed up as a result of the flooding in our part of Spain and as Fuengirola is only an hours drive from us it seemed a quick fix. When I first looked there were sea view rooms available but unbeknown to us it was a local Fiesta week and all the sea view rooms were snapped up so we ended up staying in the annex. On arrival there was street parking which is a bonus anwhere near the sea front on the Costa del Sol but looking at the annex we were doubtful that our room would be up to much as the back of the hotel overlooked the street behind. The owner spoke very little English but my Spanish is OK so we managed well, he gave us the key card and over we went. Sure enogh we were at the back of the annex but instead of overlooking another building it overlooked the opposite low houses and their gardens so great result.
True enough the breakfast was very 'Spanish' but as we live here that was OK by us. We asked for more pillow which were in the room within 20 minutes.
All in all excellent value for money, clean, central with very pleasant staff. Will definately go again soon.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid of the annexe it's reallyOK!

This is definitely one that any visitor to Fuengirola should consider, as I will always do if the cost is okay. It is really well located on the beachfront, but the less rowdy end towards Los Boliches. The staff were friendly and willing and the room was absolutely fine, albeit a little small, but it was clean and more than adequate. Breakfast was fine and I prefer that they don't even try the full English version which is always inedible at 3 star Spanish hotels. They even had "fresh" orange juice i.e. not orange squash as the others typically have, and that was a big plus. All-in-all, a very pleasant visit, and it was my second stay there.

Room Tip: Aks for one facing the sea if you want the view, but it may be a little more noisy

We recently stayed at this hotel for a weekend break. We were pleasantly surprised with a sea-view room which normally is charged as extra.

The rooms are plain but comfortable and clean. The bathroom is large with a wonderful power shower. The main attraction of this hotel are its great prices and superb location, literally 20 metres from the beach.

Breakfast included is a continental breakfast which includes a variety of breads, cold meats, cheeses, pastries, yoghurts and basic fruit alongside the usual tea, coffee and juices. It can get very hot in the breakfast room however!

The staff were very pleasant and generally spoke good English and had no problems with us leaving our cases at the hotel after we had checked out for a later flight that evening.

We would definitely stay here again!

We booked the Vila de Laredo through the facility afforded on TripAdvisor as having visited the area many times before we normally stayed in the residential area on the outskirts of Fuengirola and decided to try somewhere more central for a change. Rates were very good and I booked B&B, double room, sea-view. Making sure you book the sea view for the extra €/£ is well worth doing as there are some rooms right around the back and the remainder along the side street where you may get a view of the sea, but certainly not as good as 100 yards across the road.

Location – On the Paseo Maritimo, (the sea-front), a few hundred metres from the port, El Palmera hotel etc. Easiest way to get there from Malaga airport is by train. Get off in Fuengirola, on the main street above the station, with the station to your back, go across the road at the crossing, turn left, first right and walk directly on past the bus station and down the street across the road to the sea front, turn left and walk. 10 minute walk from the train station.

Check in – no problems at all, the staff are very friendly, speak English and no doubt other languages also. Extremely helpful any time we had any contact with them.

The room – just as you can see on the photos on here. Balcony overlooking the main street and the sea directly across the road. There is a fridge with a mini-bar. Prices are considerably more expensive in the mini-bar than local bars or indeed the Supermercado around the corner. E.g. a small Cava in the mini-bar is 4.50€, in the S’mercado the large bottle of the same stuff will set you back the princely sum of 1.65€. Need I say more. Air-con is slightly loud but not too intrusive. With the balcony door closed there is little if any noise intrusion even at the busiest times.

Breakfast – continental, plenty of hams, cheeses etc. For those who complain I am sure you will find plenty of full English in one of the many pubs catering for you in the area.

Swimming pool – on the roof, small, sun-beds, no shade! It will get VERY hot up there. We usually went across the road to the beach loungers to the right of the crossing. Guy who looks after it is a character and will remember you each time you visit. Double lounger and sun shade is 9€.

Bars – That many the place is coming down with them. Down the street to the side of the hotel, turn right and you will see a newly opened bar called Dracula. Themed by the young owners to reflect the most famous person from their country (Rumania…) the prices are very low and the hosts very friendly. If you are going in the next couple of weeks it is closed as they are away for the baptism of their 8 week old baby. If its open, their omelette’s are great. Oceanus two streets behind the hotel is another welcoming place for a pint and grub if you are looking for it. Other places see my other reviews e.g. Taberna Del Mar, Meson de la Pecha, Do Q, Ponderosa Tex Mex (don’t go there) and others.

Local ex-pats told us that August and the start of September is when the Spanish come down from the mountains in the north and stay in the Costa. Normally, we have had nothing but great things to say about the folks, always polite, friendly, helpful etc. Well, the complete opposite can be said about these people. Rude to the point of looking directly through you and would walk through you if they could when out waling along at night. The local Spanish also told us that these folks arrive, bring their towels, umbrellas and food to the beach all day, buy all their food from the Supermercado and contribute little or nothing to the local economy.

If you are willing to go a few streets back from the sea front and adventurous enough to use the restaurants and bars used by the local Spanish then you will be pleasantly surprised, have excellent food and drink, at better prices than the pre-packaged rubbish pushed by many places.

Feel free to ask anything about this hotel or bars, restaurants in the area.

Room Tip: REMEMBER make sure you book a 'sea-view' room.

Spent 3 days at this hotel rooms very tidy side room still has nice views of the sea . Restaurant served excellent continental breakfast with plenty of variety. Staff all very polite and friendly some issues with noise but believe it was from adjoining property and only during the day.The position on the seafront very good handy for cafes etc. The train station for Malaga is within easy walking distance if you are not carrying heavy suitcases (we only had cabin luggage ) . Try Reginas restaurant by the Marina great food nice situation. Short distance away you"ll find very cheap coffee/brandy !

Had 2 nights at this charming boutique style hotel right on the seafront in Fuengirola at the beginning of May. Gentleman at Reception was incredibly helpful showing where we could park the car, etc. and giving us information/map of Fuengirola. Sea facing room with small balcony a little extra per night but worth it as superb views. Room itself good sized and quiet on 3rd floor and bathroom excellent. Breakfast included was most adequate. Hotel in easy flat walking distance of town centre with its many restaurants, bars and shops. Superb swimming pool on the top floor (5th) of the hotel.

Room Tip: choose a room facing the front for terrific views.
