“quiet and relaxing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013

i enjoyed my stay at the yaramar. time of year i guess or expect to have many elderly guests. (april) but this should not disappoint as the location and especially the food is superb. staff friendly with a good sense of humour.
rooms do need to be upgraded though. except for this i would give it 4 star, but in light of what ive just said about the rooms i think 3+ is more appropriate.

Thank you for your comments and review. We are already planning the redecoration of some aspects in our rooms so maybe next time you will be able to give us full marks.

This was our third visit and we were not disappointed, it was another wonderful holiday. Going in the Easter Holidays there were mostly older people which suited us fine, the food was excellent as normal with a good selection even for me. I am fussy and don't eat meat. The pool was lovely but we did wish that the spa had been warmer. We also discovered an indoor spa and sauna which was nice. The entertainment team were first class as was the comedian and the resident duo. Thanks we will be back.

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice but if you have a bit of vertigo, I would say not to go on the upper floors...

Just got back from a very pleasant break, despite a couple of days of rain, and felt I wanted to respond to a couple of points made in previous reviews. We stayed in a superior room ( well worth it for the fantastic views and extra space). We emailed the hotel with a request for a particular room before we went, and received a prompt reply saying that they would do their best. We got the room we asked for, so yes, they do read their emails! Also, anytime we wanted extra tea or coffee we either rang reception and they sent it up, or asked our maid, who more or less told us to help ourselves from her trolley. On the whole, we found this to be a perfectly pleasant hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, good food on the whole, comfortable room. Entertainment very much a personal choice, but we did enjoy listening to a singer called Silvio.

Room Tip: The superior rooms have more space and fantastic views.

Was a bit unsure about fuengirola but this a Thomson Gold hotel so decided to give it a chance. Nice hotel, food good and good evening entertainment. Very good happy hour on drinks (2 for 1). Room quiet and comfortable with a good view (9th floor).
Well placed on the sea front and no problem crossing main road in front of hotel but that may be different in high season.

Room Tip: Higher rooms may be quieter? In summer however i can see that more noise may be experienced than we...

We stayed for a week during March in a Superior room with spectactular views of the sea and of the roof top pool. Our cases were swiftly taken to our room upon arrival and we enjoyed the bowl of fruit and sparkling wine discovered in our room upon first entering. Tea and coffee making facilities were adequate, although it could have been better if more than the mandatory two tea bags and coffee sachets were left each day. Entertainment was varied, however it appeared to be aimed at the well over 65's, which was fair enough as most of the guests at the time of us staying were that age or more!

Food was fantastic. Choices at each meal time were extremely varied and plentiful. The only critism was that the bacon at breakfast time was not entirely up to the expected english palette.

Staff, including the cleaners were very friendly and helpful and always smiled and said 'Olla' when passing or greeting.

The advertised gym, which I a was very interested in when making the initial booking, was not entirely up to standard and looked quite sad in it's present state. All the equipment was out of date and desperately needed replacing.

The resort itself is beautiful with it's long promenade and busy shopping centres and the coffee served in some of the cafe bars was to die for. Overall a very nice, relaxing break and we would definately stay there again, albeit maybe from April onwards when the weather is perhaps a little more warmer and somewhat predictable.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are excellent. They all face the sea and a good view is guaranteed.

This was our fourth visit to the Yaramar and unfortunatley we were left unimpressed. Plus point was still no children. Negatives: Dancing now poor - expected to dance to a female and a male singer (completely full of himself!) and a Country and Western couple. Doesn't work - at one time it was very good dancing to at least two pianists and a young couple (the latter being sacked by the current mananger). At one time no-one placed towels on the sunbeds - now queing at 8.00am and WAITING UNTIL THE POOL ATTENDANT ALLOWS THEM IN - one would have thought that the management would have had him come in an hour earlier - who is paying who?
Noticed a deteriation in food - still good but not 4-star.
Entertainment now second-rate being provided by Thomson staff - work hard but not as good as semi-professionals previously brought in - Thomson's obviously attempting to save money!
Bar and restaurant staff friendly but even this has deteriorated to what it once was - shame, we always regarded the staff as the most friendly we had ever met in a hotel on our 50 year travels around the World. Certainly jaded to what it once was, so much so, that we are unlikely to visit again.
Plus point - now have an early 'Happy Hour' but we're not big drinkers.
Also, don't bother sending e-mails to this hotel - reception don't read them!

Room Tip: Don't bother - we asked (by e-mail)for a room on a lower floor since my wife was having triouble...
