we stayed at this excellent hotel the last week in January All the staff were friendly and very helpful the breakfast and evening meal were buffet style with a good variation on times you could eat. There was plenty of choice for both meals and the quality of food was excellent. We asked for a couple of things to be brought to the room again excellent service. The brochure said the outdoor swimming pool was heated take care it was cold. The entertainment throughout the day was ok and the evening entertainment was very good. The location of the Hotel was in a good position and within 5 mins of the town and market(well worth a visit) There were plenty of coffee shops most at reasonable prices and restaurants though we only used the coffee shops on the sea front if you want a relaxing holiday we fully recommend the Yaramar and Feungirola. We are planning to return later in the year

Room Tip: Sea view on higher floors

I had a week to spare and decided to look around Malaga and surrounding areas. This hotel is well placed for getting around being 5 minutes away from Los Boliches train station and 25 minutes walk from Fuengirola bus station and I had no problems in using public transport to get around The clientelle were mainly retired brits escaping from the british winter and this hotel was a good base for them providing a number of daytime activities, outings & evening entertainment all of which appeared to be organised by Thomson holidays. The building has rooms on two sides with a large void in the middle, consequently, the evening entertainment can be heard at the top of the building.
One couple told me that they had been staying at the hotel each year since it opened 13 years ago and when I expressed surprise that it was only 13 years old, they commented that it was now looking a bit tired.
The rooms are on the basic side with cheap looking wood laminate furniture, louvered wardrobe doors and very dated bathrooms. On the plus side a safe is provided free, tea and coffee making facilities are restocked each day but the refrigerator must be paid for.
The food is again basic and they certainly have problems with cooking the bacon at breakfast time. They place this in overlapping layers in large trays and the thin end of each rasher comes out burned to a crisp while the wider end appears to be undercooked. The resulting fat is not drained off before serving. On a number of days the baked beans were congealed at the beginning of the breakfast serving period. The evening meals consisted of a salad table, variety of deserts, fruit and cheese table but as with breakfast, the cooked buffet was a let down for me. The swimming pool area has comfortable sun beds with loose matresses and a snack bar is provided, serving drinks, snacks and cooked meals. The gym is poor with old outdated equipment.
I do not think that this hotel deserves a 4 star rating but it appears to have a large number of returning guests and although I would not return here it served my purpose for a week.

Room Tip: Room overlooking swimming pool to enjoy afternoon sunshine

We booked this hotel at the last minute - then read the reviews on Trip Advisor (we don't usually do it this way around!) and were quite concerned we'd made a mistake. However, having returned from a week at the Yaramar I wonder if I stayed in the same hotel that some people reviewed. The hotel was excellent, right from the moment we checked in and were assured if we weren't happy with our room or its location it would be changed immediately. We need not of worried. Our room was a side room on the 7th floor. Amazing views and sunshine until late afternoon. Clean, well appointed and certainly not tired, our room was warm and comfortable day and night. In fact, we had to sleep with the balcony doors slightly open as it was so warm and we didn't have the heating on at all. The food and service in the hotel restaurant were first class. Plenty of choice. There was even a breakfast table specifically for diabetics, and a diabetic dessert every night. The Thomson team were first class, and the addition of a 'Local Interest Rep' is excellent. He was available for escorted trips out and about as an alternative to a full excursion - much better for more independant minded people. He also ran spanish language groupsand was a very valuable addition to the team.
There is an excellent train service from Fuengirola. We went into Malaga for the day and it only cost 7 euros each return and was an easy 40 minute ride, right into the city. Well worth visiting. We also caught a bus up to Mijas (with the local interest rep) and had a thoroughly enjoyable morning there.
One point I would like to make having read a recent review, is the availability of a doctor at the hotel. We had a card in our room clearly stating this and what times he came so can only assume this was misplaced from the other guests room.
All in all we would highly recommend this hotel for location and service. Lots to see and do and lots of easy walking about the resort.

Room Tip: In the winter a side room is great for all day sunshine on the balcony.

just come back from week at the Yaramar which was excellent value for money.A fine bunch of guests with John & Sandra taking top spot. They is blessed.
Accommodation was fine and we paid for a superior room. 15 paces long and I could sit in bed with a cuppa in the morning looking out over the sea and watch the sun rise. It was most impressive.
Food, My wife and I could not find fault and given the size of portions that others loaded up with it must more than adequate.
Light hearted entertainment during the day which we found to be enjoyable fun. It is a good way to meet nice people and on occasions it reduced me to a laughing jelly fish.
Evening entertainment. a group of us sat and participated every night. Well done Yaramar, It provided full value for money with some of the acts being superb. Although I would admit that the salvatore disco could do with a 70's kid like me laying down some tracks. Sound engineers do not make good DJ,s.
pleased to note that happy hour was over an hours duration.
Located on floor 5 no problems with noise and by mid night the entertainment has finished.
My wife and I had a blast.

Just returned from a week in this hotel. Very well situated for buses and trains, also lovely sea views. Food very good, plenty of choice, themed nights as well. Very clean, staff all friendly, good sized bedroom, beds not the comfiest but not unbearable. Free safe but you pay for the fridge, and extra tv channels. Not a noisy hotel, and entertainment finished at 11pm, so really quiet after that. Plenty going on during the day and evening, we where out and about every day, lots to see and do, all in all would stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a high floor then you don't hear the entertainers, also pool and sea view as you get the sun all day.
