Karibu just gets better, our first visit was just about two months after opening, and we enjoyed some of the best tapas in the region. Returned a few days later having asked for good steaks for an evening meal, and they were excellent. By the next visit, the following week, they were ready to launch a choice of more extensive menus. And you are spoiled for choice, still the good tapas - which we took as starters, and a really varied choice for other courses. The wine also matches the quality of the food. We drank a really good Cava, potent Sangria - which your host will adjust to your own personal taste, and some excellent wine. And the real gem - Ben, your host. Here's wishing Karibu great success and looking forward to many meals with you in 2014.

We visited Karibu for lunch on Tuesday, easy to find in Los Boliches. First impression is an inviting building, clean and bright. Then there's Ben, the owner and host - what a guy, a smile that lights up the room, and totally dedicated to providing a great eating experience. We are staying at Benalmadena and this was a trial trip to locate Karibu after reading the other reviewers comments.

It did not disappoint, we had tapas - almost everything on the menu for that day, and followed on with racions of Belgian Stew, French vol-au-vents etc.

Food is freshly prepared and the difference clearly shows in quality and taste. We had beer, great selection, and then red wine. Ben actually checked the quality of the wine, and opened a second bottle before he was happy for us to try it - you don't get that in every tapas bar.

We are returning next Tuesday, this time for a full meal in the restaurant area and are looking forward to some excellent steaks - hence this short review, we will post again after our next visit.

So, its train to Los Boliches, out of the station and heading in the direction of Fuengirola whilst keeping the train track above you. At the traffic island with the boat display go right into Acapulco and Karibu is on the right hand side, after just about 100M.

Not one to miss.

I originally thought that Karibu was going to be an African tapas bar with African food and was initially dissapointed to find out that this was not the case. However it turns out to be even better than I thought. Karibu apparently means welcome in some language and Ben the owner told me that he wanted everyone to feel welcome in his bar - he certainly managed it straight away with me.

The menu and everything is truely internacional, a great selection of tapas and meals from all over the world meaning Karibu is offering something different for a change! I particularly loved the stew slow cooked in belgian beer.

There are more different beers from around the world available than I have seen in any place on the coast and although I am more of a wine drinker myself I was tempted by Ben to try a Kwak belgian beer - a really nice change and thats what I like most about Karibu is that you can try so many different, new things with help from the owner.

The wine menu is refreshing with many international wines, a great choice I look forward to working my way through and at great prices too.

All in all Karibu is a great, clean, smart, modern tapas bar with plenty to interest the majority of international clients and what makes it special is the attentive service of the owner Ben who himself is a truely international guy speaking Spanish, English and his native Belgian (and I bet a few more too).

Definately worth a visit for all tourists and worth making it your local for residents of Los Boliches.
