Myramar Fuengirola Hotel

We stayed at this hotel in January 2013 & it was excellent. The apartment was well furnished - there were two single beds in the bedroom & two sofas/beds in the living room. There was also a single bed in the lobby. The kitchen/living room was a good size and had a 2 ring hotplate, sink, microwave & fridge as well as a TV. The rooms were cleaned every day. The meals we had were excellent (we were on half-board). Although the choice of food was a bit limited it was always well cooked & hot. The beach was about a 10 minute walk away. The bus stop was on the corner of the hotel & the no. 4 service takes about 12 min to the town center - fare €1.10!!
There is a supermarket in the Myramar shopping center across from the hotel. To summarize our stay was very good (even if the weather wasn't clever!!) and we would recommend the hotel to anyone.

I have recently returned from this hotel staying with my father over the christmas period. The hotel is very clean and modern. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was big enough. The kitchen is well equipped, however, the only think it lacked was a chopping board when preparing food. There was a daily maid service and if you wanted you could have clean towels everyday. The bathroom has a seperate bath and shower and plently of storage space. The bedroom had two single beds and a large wardrobe with both hanging and shelf space. The living area had a table and sofa beds. I slept on the sofa beds and enjoyed a good nights sleep. There is also a modern TV with British channels on.
Due to the beautful marble floors then you do hear any noise that happens out in the corridoors.
We only eat once at the hotel for a buffet style meal one evening. It was very nice with a good selection in both the cold and hot buffet. If you couldn't find something you didn't like to eat then I am not sure what you eat as there was something for everyone. I would recommend that you don't eat too much of the main course as you will want to save some room for the deserts!.
I love to shop so this hotel was in a perfect location as across the road there is a large shopping centre with a really good supermarket. The shopping centre is open Monday -Saturday 10am to 10pm. There are a range of resturants upstairs. On the top of the roof there is go karting track which is well worth a visit as you are able to get a good view of the local area.
Also about a 10 min walk there is 'Dunnes' store which is an Irish shop a bit like Marks and Spencer over here. There is also Lidl and Iceland along this road.
You can walk to a range of places, Christmas Day we went to the Zoo which is only a short walk from the hotel. Further along this road you will find the train station which is an excellent way to travel. The train will take you in Malaga and is very resonable priced and reliable. We also went on the bus to Mijas and Marbella it is a cheap way to see this place. If you go to Marbella go to the old town has some lovely little shops through cobbled streets. My father does not really like shopping but he enjoyed walking around the old town.
The resort has a long seafront to walk along with British bars but also some Spanish bars serving very good Tapas. The town has an aray of shops they do close in the afternoon and open till about 9pm in the evening. A few of the shops only open on a Saturday morning and are closed on Sundays.
I did not think that I would enjoy the holiday as much as I did but I was really impressed with the standard of the hotel. The location is great for getting around to see places and the reception staff are very helpful with any enquires that you have about the local area. There have really good maps of the local area and also the train times for Malaga. I felt very safe in the hotel you can hire a safe for 3 euros a day. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

Room Tip: We had a room in the front of the hotel it was great as we had views of the mountains.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Myrama castle beach hotel and have to say, our stay was not as good as expected. The hotel gets 4 stars for cleanliness, the cleaners arrive in the morning without fail, bed sheets and towels changed daily, floor and bathroom cleaned.

Cannot comment on food as we didn't eat a single thing from the hotel - opted for the self catering option. Lidl and Iceland are about a 10 minute walk which is handy. so you won't struggle to get some food in if you opt for self catering.

The rooms are ok, well big enough although the kitchen area left much to be desired. The basics were provided, glasses, plates, cutlery but there was no tin opener so we had to smash our way through a tin of beans, there was no sieve which meant that our pasta was floating around the plate half of the time and there wasn't even a utensil to flip my breakfast over with in the morning so we ended up with scrambled egg half of the time.

If you're in the room in the evenings do make sure you don't wonder out onto the balcony or down the corridor for a stroll. Stay in the room wearing a gas mask because they seem to release the awful stench of sewerage out in that area in the evenings meaning that it absolutely STINKS in and out of the hotel. I don't have the best stomach with things like this so as you can imagine, I wasn't best pleased.

We travelled there off season which meant the hotel was very very quiet and we didn't see a single holiday rep while we were there. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not. The outdoor pool is shut during winter which means the heated indoor pool is available. Swimming caps have to be worn and the 'heated' part of the pool I must have missed.. It was freezing.
Also had to pay 5 euros for the jacuzzi, not sure why as the locals seemed to go in there free of charge. Didn't bother to argue with why we had to pay as my Spanish is rubbish and I'd have looked a bit silly trying to argue in a swimming cap.
The hotel had 1 iron which was available from reception, but could only be used with a 20 euro deposit.... I can only imagine this is because many iron nappers have decided to kid nap their iron holding it ransom for a large sum of money..... If desperate, go for it, if not, just rock the creased chic look.
The hair dryer didn't do it's job very well, it was more of a gust of wind rather than a hair dryer. If you have short hair, you'll be fine - may find your arm falling off after half an hour. However if you have long hair, cut it before you stay here.

The beds aren't great, the ones in the main room are hideous. If you move during the night, the whole hotel knows about it. The loudest creaking noise descends across the corridor and wakes everyone else up in the room. You soon however learn the fine art of strategically moving to make minimal noise as possible. They're not comfortable at all but average.

There is a shopping mall about 10 minutes away from the hotel which as various different shops, places to eat like Burger King and Subway upstairs. There is also a great go karting track on the top floor which is outdoor, a great view and the kids enjoyed it. The guys there were great with the kids, the prices were reasonable for about 15 minutes on the track.

All in all, it really was average bordering on poor. I do think it makes a difference when you travel, as our winter experience wasn't great but we all had a nice break and managed to enjoy and occupy ourselves with shopping, go karting, trips to the beach, restaurants etc.

It was a basic holiday, but it's no surprise that we won't be returning here again.

Nice clean hotel, it was a shame you had to pay extra for gym and other facilities like tennis court and pay for swim hats to use indoor pool. Good location near large shopping centre with cinema and go karting which was good for our teenagers.

this is a good standard hotel with polite effiecient service. a large sun lounger area and good pool. with a separate chidrens pool. basic, but everything you need in the rooms. microwave toaster, kettle ect. room service daily. was self catering so didnt try the food. bar was good enough though. although near to a shopping complex it was a little far from the beach and restaurants, and also the castle it has in its name. this was not a major problem and was nice to have a walk after dinner. easy to get to the many attractions of the costa del sol especially by the train service that also connects to the airport. [malaga] would recomend it to all.

Room Tip: any room on the side facing the pool

Just got back from a week here with hubby and two grandchildren nov 4th. Travelled with Thomsons on a self catering holiday. It was no holiday. Went to check-in and had 100euros to pay at the desk before we could have the key. hotel policy we were told but had not been informed of this before hand. Appartment was clean and towels changed every day but the sofa beds were terrible every time you turned over or moved they creaked so much you could hear it in the bedroom.Nowhere at all for the kids to play inside when it was raining not child friendly and the outside area around the pool was chained off because the pools were closed. Indoor pool to deep for the kids to play, had to wear swimming caps 4 euro each then floats 5 euro each. At night absolutely nothing. how many times can you walk round the shopping centre opposite to fill the nights in. Never wrote a review before but felt compelled to warn people with kids to stay away. It's a health centre for the locals not a holiday hotel for kids to have fun.

Room Tip: only tip i can give if you have kids stay away
