Apartamentos La Jabega
Ranked #10 of 37 Hotels in Fuengirola
Reviewed July 9, 2013

As an 18 year old couple, we found this hotel very hospitable. The staff are lovely and catered to our every need, including the smallest details like remembering that we like tea with our breakfast instead of coffee. Although, we would recommend booking bed and breakfast rather than half/full board because the menu choice is not that exciting; for breakfast, similar to the majority of cafes in the area, is mainly just Full English or toast. The rooms are nice and every room is very well equipped, including a small kitchenette.

The location is perfect, being right on the beach front and only a short walk to the centre of Fuengirola, including the huge Tuesday market, which offers a wide selection of products. The train station is only a couple minutes walk behind the hotel, which is really convenient with taking only around 45 minutes to get to the beautiful city of Malaga.

There are many great restaurants surrounding the hotel including the many fish restaurants right on the beach front which offer the famous local cuisine being various fresh, locally sourced fish BBQ'ed on a boat. Fish alley is also only a short walk away (around 20 mins) with a wide variety of different restaurants and a lovely atmosphere at night.
The only downside being the numerous amounts of salesmen offering knock-off designer goods that interrupt your meal and are very persistent. Our advise would be, as rude as it may seem at the time, is to just completely ignore them and they will leave you in peace.

If you're looking for clubs and decent nightlife, we would recommend you venture out of Fuengirola into Malaga or talk to the lady at the Public Relations office to the right of the hotel's reception, they are always very helpful. Fuengirola is great for meals out and a fairly quiet, relaxed atmosphere, but not so good for clubbing, unless you enjoy 'British run' clubs with rip off drinks and a fairly 'chavy' atmosphere.

Also, we would definitely recommend visiting the Bioparc, which is roughly a 30 min walk from the hotel. It is a really good day out.

The apartment was very comfortable. We were on the 1st floor, and could hear the music if we got home too early - but it was very enjoyable to listen from the balcony or in bed. The beach is right across the road. They ask you not to move the furniture, but you have to if you are a couple - just lift everything so it does not make a lot of noise.
There are so many great places to eat and drink, so don't get stuck in one place - have a look around.
A previous review had perfect directions, just get the train from the airport(€2.30), then a short walk to the hotel.
If you want to watch sport, especially if you are there for the Lions rugby tour go to The London Pub. They are really celebrating the Lions tour, they have a big screen. The atmosphere and staff are fantastic. We hope to go back and visit them again.
If you want great tapas for €1, head away from the beach a couple of roads up - yum, yum.
