“Good location and nice views”
Reviewed June 29, 2010

This hotel is located right at the beachfront and if you have a room facing south, you can enjoy some nice views. The rooms are small with double beds and WC but not up to the modern standards. Some have a/c.
The pool on the top of the smaller tower is pretty awesome and you can easily spend the day there tanning and swimming. The restaurant is ok, not the best food I ever had but you can easily eat out and about anyways. I recommend this place since it is located right at the center of the action.

We arrived in Fuengirola and checked into Hotel El Puerto, we were pleasently impressed with the lobby and reception in the hotel but when we got to our room, it was grotty and old fashioned. The carpet was very very old and worn, not at all suitable for beach front hotel, tiles would be more appropriate. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, its a good job we were only staying one night!

The rooms in this hotel are small and basic but are clean. They need a good refurbishment really very basic. A lot of night clubs near hotel and can be noisy.
we liked Fuengirola and the fish alley restaurants especially (The Pepperpot just around the corner). The taxis where a rip off £40 to the aeroport best to use the train £2.10 one way.

We have visited Fuengirola many times. Malaga is an easy destination from Liverpool. Upon arrival at Malaga airport we catch the train to Fuengirola which takes 35mins. El Puerto Hotel is only a short walk from the train station. We usually stay at their sister hotel, Las Palmeras. We stayed for 3 nights, having a room with a fabulous sea view. The price was very good, £40 for B&B per room, per night. Reading previous reviews & to enjoy some meals out, we did not have the evening meal option at £47 per room per night. Breakfast was adequate - don't expect bacon & sausage as we know it, it is Spain after all. Breakfast finished at 10.30am so it could be brunch. The rooms are not ones you could stay all day in as they are smallish. The lift does not go to the pool level but is reached by walking up two flights of 'lighthouse' style steps - there must have younger & fitter guests in during the summer!!

Good points - Excellent location, everything within walking distance and on the flat. Staff very helpful and hotel clean.

Bad points - Hotel very dated and used. Full of elderly Spaniards and breakfast to suit them - pasta, fried onions etc. Lounge used by them every evening to play cards/dominos/bingo.
Club in base of smaller tower open weekends 12p.m. - 6 a.m. followed by people then catching taxis from the outside of the hotel shortly followed by mechanical road sweepers by which time it was time to get up! No soundproofing between rooms, could hear people nextdoor breathing in their sleep.

Parking a nightmare unless you are prepared to pay a euro per hour.

We did not book this hotel in advance, because we intented to stay in Malaga city for 6 nights but moved on due to lack of sleep. The council cleaned the street outside our window at the Malaga hotel and collected the rubbish at 3 oclock in the morning!
The reception at the El Puerto was very friendly,we requested a room on a high floor and were given one on the 12th with a sea view.. The room was dated but clean, the view was fantastic over the harbour,we watched the sunrise in the morning and fishing fleet go out and return in the afternoon.
We had breakfast in the hotel, the food was ok but the coffee was undrinkable.
Taking everything into account we would stay at this hotel again,it was good value for money and the view was second to none.
