Probably one of the least welcoming, lacklustre hotels we’ve stayed in; the senior staff performed their roles to their own level of satisfaction, in contrast to the catering and domestic staff who at least displayed some degree of warmth, pleasantness and humour.

The food started off great (though never hot) with some really interesting representations of traditional Spanish cooking, however by the fourth night had started to lose its initial flare, as more and more was being recycled from previous nights , and the cuisine started to lose its appeal. Breakfast was good however, with a reasonable selection of hot and cold food.

If you have to eat there, avoid the package with wine included (it’s plonk), our wine however was reasonably priced white Rioja (10€) and Marques de Caceres (11€). I also would not recommend the food as being particularly child friendly.

Other than the sky bar and pool (the only outstanding feature), there is no truly functional, comfortable social areas in the hotel, so in effect “El Puerto” is nothing more than a vertical dormitory, with uncomfortable beds, where you will be charged: €20 for the safe, €5 per day for a kettle (take your own), €40 per week for the minibar, so all in you could be forking out an extra €95 for these, which you could have put towards getting a better hotel.

On a final note remember it’s right on the front and has wonderful views (if you’ve payed extra), but can be very noisy late into the evening.

All in all given the brand “Pierre et Vacances Centre Parks” I don’t think the level of amenities, comfort or service, at “El Puerto” quite matches the brand image.

This is a great price for a ok+ hotel! And if you’re in Spain to get some tan the pool at the top of the roof is totally worth the stay! It’s a simple room, a little noise from the hallway and no fridge. You also need to pay for pool towels and give a 10€ deposit, so I recommend just buying a pool towel in one of the shops next door instead. The breakfast was good and polite staff. Great location! I would stay there again.

Pros: great views, lovely pool bar and pool. Location is good.

Cons: hotel is a bit tired and could do with decorating and updating. Shower/wc area is tight; very tight. There’s some noise - construction outside and some inconsiderate guests inside as walls/doors seem paper thin. No bedside cabinet and minimal wardrobe storage. You have to pay for safe, fridge, kettle etc.

But it was ok for a week out of season.

It's a very old building, which is why it didn't felt clean although the renovation of the hotel. Too noisy, and the beds were terrible. Not comfortable at all, I woke up several times / night with back pain. The pool area was closed. Only good thing was the view, and staff was ok.

Good hotel in a great place surrouned by restaurants and Bars.
Rooms clean, quite small but still ample.
Clean towels every day and beds made.
We paid £112 for 3 nights so wasnt expecting the Ritz but was pleasantly surprised. This hotel concentrates on a lot of up selling ie you pay extra for hospitality tray, fridge, safe - the only thing I would say is that people expect these as a bare minimum which might make people score the hotel lower
