“The true meaning of luxury”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

The Parador of Carmona is a triumph in the restoration of an old building for its modern use. It combines the old Arabic buildings with new construction necessary to give modern luxury. That's how the guidebook would describe it, we say 'This place is a Palace, it is stunning, it has luxury oozing out of every silk cushion, wow' you really do have to see it to understand it. And the best part is you don't have to be a lottery winner to stay here, the rates are affordable, with offers on a 3 day stay at 300 euros, unbelievable.

This was my first experience of a Parador and I was not disappointed.
My wife and I stayed here with my brother and sister in law for the last night of a 4 night trip to Seville. The Parador is a former king's castle which has been beautifully restored. The reception rooms are quite stunning. The bedrooms less so but very acceptable nevertheless.
Carmona itself is an interesting old town with numerous churches etc although it's not a place to spend more than one night unless you want a really quiet time. Having said that you won't find a quiet time in the hotel during the afternoon and early evening when it seems to be the place to visit for every tourist in the town. It's bustling and noisy and although there are rooms for the exclusive use of guests the ambiance of the hotel is spoilt to a large extent.
We also dined in the hotel in the evening having lunched at a nearby tapas restaurant. The latter as the better option with the food at the Parador not really being up the the standard we anticipated.
Overall though this was a good experience and the Parador is well worth visiting

Location. Historical building. Dramatic views. Lovely lobby. Atmosphere.
Well worth the visit to Cormona.
Drove throught the gates into the hotel courtyard for parking.
Check in fine (no reservation becuase hotel expected us the previous evening).
Views from room and lobby were specacular.
Internet included.
No bath tub.
Not quiet: could hear people above and in adjacent rooms.
Would be so nice to use pool in season.

Room Tip: no comment

It was expensive, but a good overall experience. Nice building. Plentiful free car parking makes a nice change for a hotel in Spain and a terrific location. The room had great views over the countryside. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was good quality and almost worth the money.
Check in was very slow, it took 25 minutes without a queue. We hope the person was new to the process? Also had problems booking the room on the Parador website. Gave up in the end and used Booking.com, much easier.

No-one could have been kinder, nicer and more welcoming that the staff in this gorgeous hotel. We arrived bruised and battered after a horrendous and sleepless night in another place. We were welcomed, we had a spacious room with a spectacular view over the plain of Seville and we were very comfortable indeed. The food was excellent, both at dinner and breakfast, and the castle itself is full of the character the is so typical of the "historical" Paradors. There is a beautiful outdoor swimming pool (open only from mid-May to mid-September) and some pleasant pathways and gardens to explore, but, otherwise, there is nothing to do in this Parador except relax, explore the town - or take the bus to Seville, to which city this is the nearest Parador. It is a lovely place and well worth a visit.

Room Tip: The best rooms look over the plain to the south - the view is marvellous!

We payed a lower fare "Golden Days". Since the parador was full we got a very small
and dark room. The windows were also small but the view was lovely. The parador was
not as nice as we had expected. Probably due to the small room. A small village in the
area with restaurants if you don´t want to eat at the parador. Great breakfast with a large
selection. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Sevilla by car.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that´s not so small as ours was.
