We expected much more from Tabanco, having read the Tripadvisor reviews. First, though it has its own entrance, it IS part of a hotel (the Alcazar de la Reina), and has a bit of that feel (if you don't like hotel restaurants, you'll know what I mean). It has some outside tables, in the courtyard by the (small) swimming pool, but the setting is a bit rough and ready. The restaurant room is quite large and could be charming, if half of it wasn't laid out as an overspill for the bar/tapas.
But here's the rub - the food was just about OK, but nothing near the standard of the other 'restaurantes' in Carmona. One of their 'signature' dishes - venison in a red wine sauce - was laughablly bad: tough wafer-thin slices of meat, horribly overcooked or left in a warming oven too long; dull starters; passable steak. The wine lst in overpriced by comparison with other decent restaurants, and even the waiter described the list as 'boring'.
We were the only people in the restaurant, but the bar was crammed with locals having tapas - so that's probably the clue... Service is good and friendly.
