“Ideal to chill”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Usual Parador quality and very good service. Rooms are smart, well kept and comfy, with large modern bathroom. Public areas likewise are all clean and in great shape. For food, we only tried a light lunch, once; but that was fine, and prices reasonable. The pool is a decent size and well maintained - relaxing sun-loungers are on the grass area. Good and quick free WIFI.

The hotel is a short taxi ride - up a STEEP hill - from the rail station (remember, you need to avoid Antequera 'Santa Ana' station as that's18km away, in the middle of nowhere!). But then you ARE only 5-10 minutes easy walk into town for good restaurants, bars and the historical sights. Near the bullring, on the main darg, there are plenty good tapas places (recommend the Tapacherra and Galeon) - but continue a further 10 mins in the direction of the Alcazar, and you'll happen across places at least as nice, an not as busy

Great hotel and town for a real relaxing, very Spanish experience.

Room Tip: face the pool

Since my last visit to this Parador it has been closed for almost two years for a complete facelift. A successful facelift in my opinion though I admit to not being very keen on the latest Parador mode in bathrooms with lots of black! Rooms are spacious. Air conditioning automatically shuts off if a door or window is opened! Good idea. We were puzzled as to why we were sent down to the Cafeteria for dinner (al fresco) but breakfast was served in the dining room!? Large swimming pool with beautiful glass protection - obviously quite popular with the locals. Dinner and breakfast both excellent. Staff at reception and in the dining room were welcoming and friendly.

Room Tip: Our room was overlooking the swimming pool.

Not the usual Parador, this is a new modern up to date hotel, with very nice rooms good quality bathrooms good pool area, pool towels and nice sun loungers available hotel also got parking, if you want Antequera this is probably as good hotel you will find in the town because most of others are old and traditional hotel is let down by the restaurant which is not very good, which is a shame because nice terrace area to dine but food is not great and service lacks personality, waitress is ok but the waiter really gives the impression he can't be bothered and don't want to be there!
But for a night or two or short break this hotel is worth a visit.

But this is just a modern building, not the usual formula of converting an historic building. The staff were very friendly, the room large, clean, well appointed with comfortable twin beds (it's usually a struggle to get a double bed in Spanish hotels -I've never found out why). Flat screen TV providing numerous channels, but hardly any in English.

It has a good pool with not enough loungers, and a nearby terrace serving drinks and meals. There is apparently a decent restaurant but we discovered it was shut and were sent back to the terrace, where we had an OK meal but nothing wonderful.

Free Wi-Fi with no password, and I did see a PC apparently available for guests.

The bathroom was good - encased by a glass wall which I see some people have an issue with but it didn't bother us. More importantly the extraction system was either non-existent or not working so the bathroom steamed up after a shower.

We didn't try the breakfast.

Parking is free and secure, and it's a short walk into town. On the whole we were quite pleased.

This is a well-appointed very modern souless parador just out of the centre of Antequera. The room was clean and featureless looking onto the limited garden which had the disadvantage of a tall hedge surrounding it which completely hid any views. The pool looked pleasant. The staff, when one could find them, seemed very disengaged. All the plants in the pots in the bar area were dead! Breakfast was very mediocre for a parador and we were not told that the dining room was closed on Sunday night. Snacks were served in the bar area. A return visit is certainly not on the cards!

Had a one night stay here last week and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly at check in and our luggage was taken to our rooms by a helpful member of staff who explained the room and hotel facilities. We had asked for 2 rooms near each other as we were travelling with our teenage daughters and we were given 2 connecting rooms. The rooms were very spacious and spotlessly clean. The contemporary decor and stylish bathrooms were a big hit with our daughters. Free wifi and free parking was also very welcome! Fantastic pool area with 2 pools and plenty of sun loungers with comfy cushions and beach towels. Antequera itself is a lovely town and only a few minutes walk from the hotel. We will definitely return to this parador again.

Friendly, good service, modern amenities and a very good breakfast. Close to town (walking distance) and the arena.
It is modern though, do not expect an ancient building. It is very much a hotel and not a family holiday resort. Highly recommended if you need a hotel in Antequera.
