“Keenly priced, modern and friendly hotel”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

A bargain at about 36 EUROs, only stayed one night after returning on a late ferry from Morocco. Its a bit of a walk from the port, but a taxi is only 4-5 EURO, very friendly welcome even late at night, very comfortable clean room. The bathroom has a very generous tub and was great to wash off all that dust after Ihad been travelling up from Fez the whole day.
There was not much left to do other than eat at a ridiculously cheap restaurant and then lie in bed with a book and perusing the excellent free mini bar. During the day, there is a large shopping centre next door, but at night, there is very little to do, but there are a couple of decent restaurants about ten minutes walk away. Likewise, the 120 bus to Gibraltar is about a 15 minute walk away. The hotel offers day trips to Tangier, and given that Tangier is not nearly half as bad as some people say, Algeciras makes for a decent base to explore Gibraltar (and a bit of Morocco) from. Another great trips from Algeciras is Ronda, a very scenic ride by train, and there is also a train connection with Granada, although too far for a day trip.

There is also an AC Hotel in La Linea which is closer to Gibraltar, but even this makes a decent base for visiting Gibraltar, and at these prices, it simply cannot be beaten.

Room Tip: All rooms are good! Quite a few look out into an atrium - the view is a bit boring but nevertheless...

After a week in morocco, we hopped into spain. Since there are no major attractions in algeciras and all shops are closed on a sunday(except for nearby gibraltar), we decided to put up a night at the AC Hotel. It costs about 8 euro by premier taxi from the ferry terminal (we had 4 passengers and a lot of luggage). The check in itself was quick and the reception spoke good english.

Dinner was only served at 6pm so we had to wait till then for our room service order. The food quality itself was above average but with small portions.

The rooms are quite new, well kept and clean. The bed and pillow is very comfy with sufficient extra pillows. The amenities provided like the soap and shampoo are of good quality. The free minibar was a nice touch for the price paid.

For breakfast itself, there is a nice cafe along the road to El-Corte Ingles where you can get a good cup of espresso and bread for only 2 Euro.

Our plus points are given to the front desk who is very professional and helpful. We needed help in printing some boarding passes and they duly helped without any hesitation.

We could not think of a bad point for the hotel except that the wi-fi connection costs 10 euro and could only be used on one device alone.

After a day of very stressful travel, our night at AC Algeciras was wonderful and relaxing. We felt newly energized for another day of travel. The desk staff were very accommodating to our questions, breakfast was more affordable than other hotels we'd stayed at (9 Euro per person), and the rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. The town of Algeciras wasn't a place of interest for us on our itinerary, but this hotel made our stop here very worthwhile.

My wife and I really enjoyed this hotel for a brief visit to Gibraltar. Quiet room, attentive front desk, convenient parking in the hotel garage, and free mini-bar make this the best value to see Gibraltar. The taxi to the border costs about 30 Euro each direction. Compared to the expense of trying to stay in Gibraltar, this was by far the best deal. It is possible to see the tunnels, the apes, and the caves in one easy afternoon using one of the taxi tours once you get inside Gibraltar. The day we visited the afternoon heat was high and walking would not be recommended, although some were doing that. The fruit salad at the hotel restaurant is remarkably good.

Stayed one night after visit to Gibraltar and before trip to Morocco from Tarifa. Nice clean and modern hotel. Easy walk to waterfront, shopping and restaurants. Mini bar items at no charge and in lobby when restaurant is not open. Wifi is free in lobby and in your room if you are Marriott gold or above, just ask for card. Parking is free and close by. We were pleasantly surprised and happy with our stay here.

This hotel is tastefully decorated. Great bedrooms and bathrooms. Spotlessly clean throughout. Free wifi in lounge which has desks and free refreshments (coffee, juice etc). The mini bar (non alcoholic) is also free. Located within walking distance from town and two minutes walk to El Corte Ingles, Hipercor and a huge shopping centre (La Bahia).Really efficient staff. Good breakfast buffet and a small but nice restaurant for evening meals if you don't fancy going into town. They have some great weekend deals at under 50 euros per night. Am going back to the region (Gibraltar) shortly and will make the 20 minute taxi trip to stay in this hotel rather than in Gib.
