“Poorly organised”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

There is a good exhibition of the festival costumes and old musical instruments. Having paid to get into the castle, there is little way to separate those who want to see the museum and those who are there just for the cafe. You have to pay to use the toilet even though you have just paid entry to the museum. The baroque decorated rooms are fine if you like that sort of style. The paintings are mostly bad. Best for me was the large ceramic wood heaters in every room, fed through a trap door outside. Kept the servants busy.

“A Palace with Thing to See!”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

We visited several empty palaces during our travels in Croatia and Slovenia. We were delighted when we visited this Ptuj castle with many rooms having original furnishings (check out the fireplaces in each room), paintings, weapons, musical instruments (special consoles allow you to press buttons and hear the sounds each instrument plays), and a gallery with ceremonial costumes. There are several exhibits; obtain information where you buy your tickets and they will advise you on the best way to tour the castle. We hope other travellers enjoy it as well, and the views are a bonus!

“amazing carnival masks”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

Keep a couple of hours for this and approach by walking up the alley to the left hand side of the tourist information office. There is a variety of exhibits in what is more a museum than a castle. Take time to sit and look at the view

“Music and Carnaval”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Visiting the Ptuj Castle you will be let into a small exhibition hall where you can find the local carnaval clothing, very interesting to see how other people dress during these days. After that you go into the castle self and view a lot of the history of Slovania, during the tour you also visit the rooms with extra ordinary music instruments, pressing buttons you cabn hear the instruments shown in the displays.
