“Great Location!”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

The Hotel Bastion is a very nice place, about as close to Peles Castle as you can get. Nice staff, nice room. My only complaint is that it was a bit hard to find - surprising, since it is so close to the landmark castle. The breakfast was a bit underwhelming, but since there weren't many other people I guess they thought that a full buffet wouldn't make sense.

The hotel is walking distance to the Peles Castle. It was snowing and the view was just breathtaking.
Next door there is a brazilian style restaurant(churrascaria). We tried that one night and it was really good. The hotel was almost empty during our stay which is not a bad thing. It was pretty quiet and relaxing.

Our room was really clean and tastfully decorated. The bathroom was large and nice. I think this hotel is not too old anyway. Breakfast was nice but not a huge selection. We had pizza in one of their restaurants and loooooved it.

All and all it was worth it and I would go back there given the opportunity.

Room Tip: At check in it would help if you would tip the clerk $5-10 for a nice room. This is a welcomed custo...

Perfect location.

Very helpful staff!

I've enjoyed a lot the 2nights here. The room was very nice, worm with a perfect view. It was snowing and to be able to see that from your confi worm bed is awesome.

I will be back soon.

Very easy to find, good parking facilities.

We`ve been to Sinaia for more than five times now and we stayed in different hotels, but Bastion was the best of them.
The location of the hotel is almost perfect and picturesque, in the forest, but not far from the center of the center and very close to Peles Castle.
This hotel before it used to be the stables of the Castle and it was transformed in a hotel.
The room was very comfortable, very clean and very quiet and in the back rooms you can hear the river crossing near the hotel.
The breakfast was romanian style and good, but not perfect.
If we will ever travel to SInaia again, we will definetely stay here.

Only stopped by at the restaurant on a quiet afternoon after visiting the Peles Castle and having left my car in their parking (very good location, don't leave your car at the first parking as you will walk more). Restaurant was empty so we had a chilled 2 person lunch - a very nice romanian soup, large salad (main dish) and a grill. All were very good and well cooked for a total cost of 12 EUR including drinks - what a bargain! The waiters and hotel staff were super nice. Only downsize is that the restaurant seems a bit worn out, but I would definitely go there again!

After I spent 3 nights at the hotel Bastion in December 2012, I'm amazed why the hotel has been classified at only 3 stars, I guess it deserves easily 4 stars.
The hotel is situated in a forest, on the road that leads to the Peles castle (that is a 10-minute walk climbing a hill). Don’t miss out for nothing a visit at fabulous Peles and Pelisor castles, who are the residence of the former Kings of Romania.
To reach the city centre or especially the ski slope you need for a car and if you are not with yours, the taxi price it's cheap.
The hotel has a big parking lot, a courtyard with terrace, a restaurant and a bar.
The doubleroom we had (number 102) was nice and large one, cleaned every day, quiet and very warm, this is really important when the outside temperature is minus 8 / minus 10 degrees.
The wifi signal was very weak or unavailable, but I understood you can ask for a cable at the reception, if you need. For the Romanian tourists: the Digi/RDS mobile conection works good enough. The LCD TV diagonal should be greater considering its location and the size of the room, but probably you won't go to Sinaia to watch TV.
The bathroom in Victorian style is also large, but the space for the shower is rather small. Hot water always, without problems and free toiletries.
The buffet breakfast included was decent to good and served in “Caporal” bar.
Me and my wife enjoyed dinner every evening at the “Napoleon” restaurant, which is generally non-smoking and the service is “a la carte”. We were very pleased about all the dishes we've tried and about the service of a young lady waiter.
Both the restaurant and the bar are using the same very good kitchen – congratulations to the chef !
You can pay everything at the hotel by credit card.
One of the strengths of this hotel is the entire staff, which is very respectful and always ready to be at your service.
We enjoyed very much our stay at “Bastion”, I highly recommend this hotel and we’ll visit again for sure.
