One of the most important places to visit in Romania as it represents one of the most important moments in Romania history : the coronation of king Ferdinand and queen Maria.

The citadel itself is impressive in it's architectural design, and if you manage to sync your visit with the change of guards, the spectacle is complete.
You can find merchants everywhere disguised in old carriages from where you can buy a memento, and well kept Roman Landmarks that will get your attention.

In the middle, the statue of Mihai the Brave (Mihai Viteazul - Author Oscar Han) watches over the citadels peacefullness.

Do not miss this if you are near Alba Iulia!

We wandered round on a grey overcast day and thoroughly enjoyed exploring this place. There is lots of see and it is well maintained.

The restoration of the citadel is superb! Don't pass by this without stopping you will truly not be sorry!! You can walk or rent a bike and tour though the trenches. It is superb on a nice sunny day!

Make sure you visit the unification hall with free admission! It is a piece of Romanian history!
Also, you will not want to miss the changing of the guard that takes place daily at gate number 3 of the city
