Miramar Hotel & SPA

We were booked into this hotel by Newmarket Holidays. The hotel was clean and fresh and all but one of the staff very friendly. The meals were very enjoyable and the views down over the bay exceptional. Other reviewers have moaned about the place not being central, but they must be very unfit if they regard a car as being essential. We walked both down and up the hill every day (sometimes twice) and this entailed about 15 minutes walking each way. Perhaps these unhappy reviewers would like a hotel in the middle of town fitted with a periscope so that they could obtain a view!

The only minor glitch was an antediluvian PC in the computer room, which might bamboozle non-technically minded people. I found that I had to take the front panel from beside the CPU and hold it up to the unit so that I could push the start button. Then it sometimes had to be restarted to recognise either the mouse or the keyboard. It was running windows XP and was very slow. However, it was free, which is better than some places.

Over all, this hotel was a good place to stay. Well done Miramar.

The lobby was somewhat small, but the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The pool was outside (I was there in July, so that was very convenient). Around the pool were many sunbeds where I got the opportunity for sunbathing.
The staff is friendly and helpful and they provide a shuttle bus to the beach, as the hotel is not in the centre but somewhere in the hills behind the boulevard.
We walked down to the centre and the beach several times which costed us not too much effort and time.
This hotel has a great view over the beach, the city and the sea and it's wonderful when you are sunbathing or swimming to enjoy this.
We went out for a walk and found a little bit further Hotel Miramar-sul.
That one is more modern and more stylish.
Infact the sister hotel Miramar-sul has more class according to my opinion.
So next time when I go to Nazare I will book a room in Hotel Miramar-sul, as the view, the breakfast room on the top floor are topclass.
The views are even more breathtaking than in the Miramar where I stayed.
The staff allowed me to have a look at the rooms and they appeared comfortable and luxurious to me. AND they also have an indoor pool as well as an outdoor pool. I think that this hotel will get a higher rating from me than the old Miramar that I just rated with 4 stars.

I had traveled 2 months from Dublin, Ireland to Lisbon, Portugal & was exhausted & just needed to rest, so read the Lonely Planet & found this spiritual place called Nazare. Booked online sight unseen this gorgeous hotel & it was heaven-sent!!! The view is powerful in its beauty and the area is known world-wide for miracles that have happened there. The breakfast was delicious & there is a seagull couple that have come there for breakfast for 9 years!!!

Room Tip: I was on the third floor & this looks like a hotel where everyroom has the spectacular view of N...

Sorry Newmarket but we have been on holiday with you twice before both four star Hotels, but this time you got it wrong. The rooms were clean every day but there was no mini bar (no fridge) no tea/coffee making facilities in room, there was nowhere to relax unless you were in your room or by the pool on a sun bed. The sun beds had seen better days, a lot were broken. The area in and around the pool also needed attention. If you’re with Newmarket the evening meals were something else. Four tables put together in rows seating 8 people. These tables were set with white tablecloths to distinguish them from the rest of the restaurant, where the other tables had the best view out to sea and individual service from the staff. On the whole the staff spoke very poor english if not at all and they had very poor information about the area, e.g. local buses and places of interest. This comment also extends to one of the Newmarket representatives that we had. If you needed a remote control for your TV or air conditioning you had to ask at reception, and most of us only new this from telling each other.

We are just back after a one week holiday with Newmarket Holidays. We cannot fault the hotel at all. We had a lovely big room which was very clean, with a balcony, the room had maid service daily and we got clean towels every day. The bar and waitressing staff were very obliging and very nice & friendly. We liked the breakfasts. The buffet meal at night was fine, but nothing special to be honest. We enjoyed our week in this hotel, but just for our own tastes, Nazare itself was a bit out of the way for us and not much to do, but I would definately stay at the Miramar again if I did ever go back to Nazare.

Stayed four nights half board as part of tour. Staff helpful, problems quickly sorted. Recently renovated, some teething problems and great potential. The breakfast room has fabulous views and good choice. Dinner was buffet for the tour and was excellent. Plenty of choice (beware of irresistable desserts!) The dining room is beautiful with again lovely views. Great pool and sun deck. (Wish the pool was heated)
Taxi up from town three euros. Lovely town with scores of excellent cafes and restaurants. Funnicular to top of town E1.90 return. Very high spec. Surfing beach.
Our room was very comfortable. Flat screen TV with SKY. Different rooms reported by fellow travellers but mostly small niggles. Small, quiet, and in among local Portuguese residents. We will go back. Apartments also available.

Room Tip: check re double or two singles, ask for a balcony
