As part of the 5-star hotel this restaurant offers great modern Portuguese kitchen. The 'amuses' are original and tasty. We ate on the terrace overlooking the river Tâmago in Amarante. Service is correct and the prices are reasonable for the high level of food.

The whole team at Casa da Calçada and Largo do Paço restaurant we are really happy that your experience in our restaurant was great.
Our head chef, Vitor Matos, is a chef from the region, trying to use most of the ingredients from the local commerce and the region. The head chef changes the menu every 6 months, applying new techniques a new products that he experience whenever he is traveling.

We hope that we can welcome you again, in a near future to "introduce" you to our new menu.

We spent a week in a private home in Amarante with a large party and several children below the ages of 7. We visited for a possible lunch and were uncertain whether we would be made welcome with such a large party and so many children. However, the dining staff including the maitre d and hotel manager personally greeted us and arranged a table enthusiastically.

From then on, the experience was incredible, consistent with the wonderful Portuguese friendliness. The service as immaculate.

First the menu. There was a very affordable 25 euro lunch (prix fixe menu). Excellent preparation of smoked tuna, with a main of salmon, that was perfectly cooked. My father ordered this and was pleased with the amount, and quality. I ordered a la carte, and being a large party we ordered just about everything off the menu. The consistency was deserving of Michelin stars. The most important thing however, was the style of food was Portuguese, but innovative, original, but never pretentious in presentation.

Children were offered a separate non-menu item. Pasta bolognese, and a vegetable soup that I would have eaten and enjoyed just as much. They were extremely accomodating and humorous with us.

We are from San Francisco, and so trips to Portugal will be rare, but with the experience we had especially at this place, we seriously return. This could easily become a destination location even though its a ways away from Porto or major airports. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!

Thank you very much for your feedback about the lunch in our Michelin star restaurant, Largo do Paço.
We are extremely happy to know that we were able to make of your lunch an unforgettable experience.
The menu that you mention is our Executive Menu, available all year round from Monday to Friday.
In terms of children, they are always welcome to our restaurant. We have special meals for them and we even provide if needed coloring books and “crayons”.

We hope to welcome you again and your family in a near future.

A very good experience at a very reasonable price. We were 2 adults 1 child and 1 baby having dinner. We went for 3 course tasting menu and everything was excellent, from the beginning till the end. The service was faultless. The adults were 45€, the child 20€... very well spent :)

For those visiting Amarante or lucky enough to be staying in Casa Da Calcada do not pass up on the opportunity to enjoy an amazing experience at this wonderful Restaurant. We dined here 4 times over 5 days and each meal was a treat. I have often thought that food described as "makes you smile" a bit OTT I now know what that means and you will smile about the flavours, presentation and service. There are plenty of other places to eat in Amarante which is a lovely village but for outstanding quality, experience and value you could not match this anywhere. Whilst we were there (2nd week June) there was a Table d'hôtel menu available Mon to Fri for an amazing 25 euro for lunch and 35 euro for dinner and what you see on the menu is not all that you get due to many compliments from the chef trust me you will not be disappointed and it will be the best meal you will have in Amarante if not anywhere.

Thank you very much for the feedback about your experience in our restaurant, Largo do Paço, with our local chef Vitor Matos.
We are also glad to know that you also stayed with us and that you had the chance to experience our restaurant 4 times.
As you said in your feedback, comment, Amarante has also other nice restaurants, typical from the region, and around 7 of them they are walking distance from the hotel (2-3 minutes).
We hope to welcome you back in a near future in our hotel and hope that we will be able to surprise you again with our gastronomy, quality / price and service.

Best regards from all the team at Largo do Paço
