“Wonderful place, wonderful people...scary stairs!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2012

If you want an off-beat experience, this is the place to be. It is run by a family of charming people. The father makes coffee in the morning and oversees the breakfast. The brother and sister team (Dario & Laura) arrive a little later, and they are personable, charming and can't do enough for you.
Hence the wonderful reviews.
I loved my room (Cerere) with it's Italian style bed at the top of the tower. I heard the bells at 7:30 every morning, and the doves cooing at night. It was the perfect place for me to sit at the little desk and start my new novel.
However, if you have knee issues or vertigo, or are just not very athletic, you might want to think again before booking here. The problem is that to get up to your room you either have to use a teeny-tiny lift with no door (which gave me vertigo) or use the small stairs which wind up in a somewhat precarious fashion. The worst part about the stairs is that if you come home late at night, the switch that you use to light them doesn't keep on long enough for you to get up to the top. Plunging you into blackness on your way up. Not fun. (So remember to bring a flashlight).
I raised the issue of the stairs with the young man, and he said that there really was no other way to do it. If you look at the space, you will see that it is true. However, I think I might have opted to fill the whole space with a large elevator that had a proper inside door. And put the staircase somewhere else. Just my 2 cents.

Room Tip: There seem to be 6 rooms in this B & B. If you DON'T want to deal with the scary stairs, ask...

We arrived in Enna late in the afternoon with no bookings. Finding Proserpina we inquired and were advised there were no vacancies. Everywhere else iin town was also fully booked. Exhausted after driving all day we must have looked utterly despondent as the delightful owner Dario offered for us to stay at his family home for the evening! This became a highlight of our trip to Sicily - a gorgeous room and a beautiful breakfast in the garden the next morning, plus Dario moved his wireless router so we could use our iPad in the room we were staying in. This is a genuine, generous and kind family who really care about their guests. We can't thank them enough for their hospitality and generosity - they really saved us from a travel crisis! Dario also gave us some wonderful tips for things to do and see in Enna - a gorgeous town he is understandably proud of.

Excellant location, close to all stores and shopping. The staff could not be any friendlier. They were most helpful in caring for our every need. Fantastic people.
The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Excellant location in Enna. Close to all stores and shopping. Could not ask for a friendlier and car...

We booked 3 nights here in October after reading all the rave reviews on trip advisor. Here's our experience;

A dangerous tiny lift with only 3 sides( health and safety??)
The stairs is a narrow spiral one and doesn't smell too sweet.
I asked for a quiet twinroom and got a dirty little room overlooking the main road with an old double bed. The side-lights were broken, the furnishings tatty and smelly, the bathroom old and grubby. The towels were a disgrace.
I travel alot and mostly use b&b accommodation so don't expect 5 star but I couldn't stay here. The photos are of some rooms that have been re-decorated and the reviews are a mystery to me.

This B&B is easy to find and is centrally located for walking the sights of Enna. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we had came with a double bed and two bunk beds but only a small window that looked out into an adjoining roof. The walls are thin so you can hear noises. The heat is controlled from outside the room and is kept under lock and key. The bathroom towels were not white-clean and the bath mat probably has not been even washed for 6 months. There were no towel racks and no glass in the bathroom. Breakfast was prepackaged - no yoghurt, cereal or fresh rolls. Overall it was a cheap place to stay.

Room spacious compared with some others we stayed in in Italy. Shower hot, but small. Hosts were charming and helpful. We arrived on a misty, cold, windy All Saints Day. Room not ready, but host gave us coffee, snacks and allowed use of the breakfast room, games and computer while waiting. Always wanting to please. Breakfast was substantial.

This is a sweet little B&B in the heart of old Enna. We spent three nights here. The owner and his family were gracious and helpful, Irene was terrific, and we could not have had a better experience. The rooms are basic but very clean; the substantial street noise (you are in Enna, after all) was easily controlled at night by closing the windows and turning on the air conditioner. Irene does the breakfast, and the cappucino she served was delicious. When we arrived, she even got in our car with us to show us where to park. Thank you for a wonderful visit.
