Stayed for 4 nights. Pleasant services. Charming decorations in the communal parts of the hotel. The room I stayed in was simple. Properly cleaned. Water facilities in the bathroom are becoming tired and would need some update soon. A hairdryer was located in a drawer. The food standard is good. Very quiet, except for a night when they held a ball, which did not annoy me since they advised me of the event when I requested reservation of a quiet room by phone. A pity that they do not seem to appreciate so much this riverside location: no particular care for the riverbank appearance nor riverview from room.

We stayed at the Lawless last week when the Woodenbridge couldn't find/refused to honor our reservations. Although I had made a note to avoid the Lawless after reading through previous Trip Advisor comments, management at the Woodenbridge assured us that it was under new management and "every bit as good as" the Woodenbridge...and due to the late hour and a plethora of weddings on a Saturday night, it was the only game in town. They were kind enough to take us in and perhaps we had the last two rooms in the hotel, but the bottom line is that I slept in my clothes. The wallpaper in our room (number 11) was literally peeling off in large sheets and there was mildew in the bathroom. A large, uncovered transom over the door let the hall light shine into our room all night. One of my shirts fell on the floor and when I picked it up, it was covered with white plaster from the crumbling walls. Interestingly the bar was filled to bursting with locals watching sports and it might have been fun joining them, but we opted to have dinner outside the hotel. A helpful young man at the front desk recommended a restaurant in a local town, but when we arrived we found that it unfortunately had been shut down some months before. Supposedly a three star hotel. No hair dryer or other conveniences in the rooms. Reasonable breakfast but not great. All and all a very disappointing experience.

I cannot comment on the actual hotel rooms as we were put in the holiday village as the hotel had overbooked. The meals were excellent.

First of all make sure you get good solid directions on how to get there. From Dublin Airport get to the M50 and then to the N11 all the way to the first exit for Arklow and go left at the turnabout. Follow into town and follow the signs for Woodenbridge. Once in Woodenbridge turn left and follow the signs to Aughrim (pronounced Awkrim) You will come to a right turn over a small bridge into Aughrim and the hotel is immediately on the left over the bridge. DON'T TRY THIS DRIVE AT NIGHT IF YOU HAVE NEVER DONE IT BEFORE, STAY IN DUBLIN AND HAVE A GO DURING THE DAY.

We arrived about 10:45 pm and were very hungry, but the kitchen was closed, but the deskman offered to have a couple of sandwiches prepared, as it turns out the cook offered to prepare some beef stew or szechwan chicken. We decided on the stew and it was wonderful.

The decor was full of old world charm with wood furniture. The room was very tiny, as was the bathroom and the 13 inch television. We were in Ireland for the 3 U2 concerts and booked to late and had to stay out of town. The inn is about 80km/50mi from dublin center and probably 110km/66 mi from the airport. Book direct with the hotel and you will probably save some money. We used 12travel and though they were helpful, I feel I got gauged on the price. Wish we would have had more time to spend here. It is very quiet and the river is very beautiful. There is an Old Steakhouse 1 block up from the hotel and the chicken paninin was great. I almost forgot.. the breakfast is included and you get to order off the menu. Pretty good and great coffee and juice.

We stayed in the Lawless hotel for one night and had a fabulous time. The hotel was beautiful, the food excellent and the staff very friendly and efficient.

Our room was small but not tiny and had everything we could need including a view of the river. The hotel was quiet while we were staying there but the food in their restaurant was exquisite.

All in all a great stay and we wouldn't hesitiate to return.
