We stayed here in July. Rooms are lovely and clean and service is overall good! We were told food from the restaraunt would be served in the bar- when we got there it was just an allowance of 25€ for bar food! Food was appalling - ordered well done steak one day- came out so well done it was nearly burnt to a crisp! Thought maybe might improve second night- we were wrong! We has turkey- it was so dried up and we couldn't eat it. Ordered dessert 50 minutes waiting for ice cream! Food was plain and uninviting not what you would expect from a hotel! We were due to stay 3 night but with no wear else really to eat around town and such bad service we only stayed 2 nights!! We tried to mention this on departure but it fell on deaf ears! Disappointing

We booked Annebrook House Hotel as an ideal stop half way up Ireland. Initially, we were thrilled as the staff seemed very helpful, lunch was no trouble to them (even though we were late) and the room was comfortable.
We settled down for a good night's sleep only to be woken at 10.30 by incredibly loud band music from 2 storeys below. The racket continued until 2.30am! To make it worse, it was a very bad 70s and 80s cover band...is anything worse? I was ready to go downstairs and scream at them to go to bed. (I didn't). Needless to say, we were not very rested for our trip the next morning.
The staff were quite surprised that we had disturbed by the "music" and loud dancing and said we could have slept in the other building if we wanted a quiet night! (They hadn't mentioned it when we checked in) A bit late!
SO.... nice hotel, nice staff, reasonable facilities, but bad luck if you want to sleep on a night when a band is playing!
PS Lock your car in Mullingar. The locals like to break in to them.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room in the main building over the dining room if you want to sleep!

Management response:Responded July 9, 2012

Dear Wanderer

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and your stay with us. We are sorry that your visit was not a positive one. I have discussed your stay with reservations and they have assured me that all customers are advised if there is a wedding in the hotel and where possible are offered accomodation in our suites which ensures they are not disturbed by the music. I apologies in this instance that this was not offered on check in.

We would also like to know if you had any issue with your car. We have a very secure car park with CCTV in operation as well as an underground car park and have had very few if any issues regarding breaks ins.

We would like to welcome you back once again to the Annebrook on your return and hope that we can ensure your next stay is a memorable one for all the right reasons.

Kind Regards

AHH

We had a function there last May,we were so well treated and the staff could not do enough for us.A number of my family stayed here and they all told me it was a pleasure to stay there. The Hotel itself is very very clean and family friendly. The food is second to none.I definitly have no problem in recommending this Hotel to anyone. The Hotel is adjoined to an old restored period house that really is very quaint and peaceful.By the way just for anyone wondering why i didnt stay there myself, well i live in Mullingar and thats the only reason.

I have just returned from Mullingar where we stayed for the weekend in Annebrook House Hotel. We were a party of 12 girls (18 to 65)and we booked into 3 apartments...gorgeous accommodation! We all had 2 bedroom apts (both ensuite) with balconies overlooking a tranquil park with swans on the lake.Large living room with TV and comfy leather sofas and ample kitchen with kettle, toaster and microwave.Very comfy beds and loads of wardrobe space, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, great large mirrors for getting ready.Room service was very efficient (we needed wine glasses and ice) and the waiter wouldn't accept a tip! Restaurant was lovely and food first class but the star in their crown is the staff.....All 12 of us agreed the staff were excellent, both efficient and courteous but so very friendly too.I would particularly single out the breakfast staff on Sunday who greeted us with smiles and chat despite the fact they had been on duty til the early hours the previous night.
I'm already looking forward to my return visit in a fortnight!!!

Room Tip: Apartment 232 is lovely. light ,spacious, great view. Apartment 242 has an even bigger living room.
