We stayed at Marlinstown Court for two nights. The afternoon we arrived was the day of the All-Ireland Football final, and we wanted to be sure to watch. When we told our host, Larry Ginnell, what we wanted to do he immediately offered to take us into the town center to find the perfect pub for watching on a big screen TV. We passed several pubs as he went, with Larry commenting on each, until he spotted just the one he thought we would enjoy most, pointed out the nearby cab stand for the ride home, and dropped us off. We had a great afternoon "at the match", chatting with people next to us, and cheering for Mayo (maybe next year)! The following morning, Larry and Barbara asked us about the places we planned to see in the surrounding area. Larry brought out his spiral bound atlas and showed us the routes to Old Mellifont Abbey, Monasterboice, and the Battle of the Boyne site, then urged us to take his atlas for the day - much more manageable than our large fold-out map. On our last morning, Barbara printed out step by step directions from Marlinscourt to rental car return at Dublin Airport - she has written them out in precise terms and keeps them on the computer for guests. Very helpful and reassuring!

All this in addition to a spotless and very spacious room with a super comfortable bed, delicious breakfasts in the breakfast/sitting room - fresh baked brown bread , of course - with pretty china and place settings (several patterns and styles throughout the room). For all these reasons, we highly recommend Marlinstown Court!More
