Mulligar Pewter factory tour, gift shop and tea room is easy to get to - take exit 14 off the N4, but it's also easy to miss or pass by - and that would be a mistake for the discerning tourist. We missed the factory tour, as that was temporarily closed, but had a great time shopping in the gift stores. There we found momentos of Ireland that we can be proud to display, are timeless, authentic, and will last a lifetime. The celtic themed pewter at Mulligar is beautiful, and I can attest to it's lasting attraction. 30 years ago, as a young woman, I visited Ireland and purchased a single Mullingar Pewter cup with celtic designs. It sits on my desk to this day, (I use it to hold pens & pencils, as an excuse to display it all the time) and I still love and enjoy it. This time, we purchased 8 cups and goblets with lovely and instantly recognizable depictions of Celtic myths and heros. On the other side of the gift shop, I found tea cozies in at least a dozen styles and patterns - a much wanted item that I did not find elsewhere in my travels. If you want Irish momentos that are high quality and will last, this is the place to shop. The tea room was very nice too, relaxing, outstanding selection of delicious tea treats, and the tea was hot and strong, the way it ought to be.
