“An experience to remember.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

We stayed at the Strandhill Lodge for 3 nights at the end of August. From check in to check out we had a truly wonderful experience.Beautiful view from our balcony taking in Strandhill Bay and the golf course.Bedroom was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff were very professional, accomodating, and friendly, and all seemed to enjoy their job.You are made to feel like you are the only ones there! This hotel is not typical of the regular chain hotels, it is very classy, cool and elegant. 24 hour complimentary tea coffee and biscuits is provided, a wonderful idea when you just want to relax and read in the lounge. The continental breakfast is more than sufficient, and if you leave the breakfast room hungry well then ....what more can i say! The manager Dave is a true gentleman, provides lots of information on places to visit and restaurants to dine in.The Venue next door to the hotel is a great restaurant and bar. Overall we had a great stay at the hotel and we would certainly highly recommend it. We will definately return.

Dear Snowymoate

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review it is greatly appreciated.

The views from the balconies are indeed spectacular and more so if the sun is shining...! Im glad you found the soft furnishings and amenities to your liking.

I will pass on your kind and gracious comments to the front desk staff and the cleaning staff also.

We are lucky to have the Venue bar and restaurant in such close proximity and indeed the other bars and restaurants in the main part of the village. We like to provide the complimentaryy tea/coffee just a small extra to facilitate our guests.

It is always a delight to read such pleasant reviews as your own and thankyou for taking the time to do so. I hope you to see you again soon and i look forward to welcoming you back.

Thanks again

We stayed here for two nights in August with our 3 kids (7, 4 & 1). We had booked a suite & it was perfect for our family. The rooms were completely spotless, water & milk provided in the fridge & the staff couldn't have been any more helpful. I really cannot fault this hotel they are doing a brilliant job & many other hoteliers need to pay a visit to this establishment to see how it should be done!

Dear OBtraveller08

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review - im delighted that you enjoyed your break with us and that you found all to your liking.

It is great to hear that young families such as yourselves enjoy the suites as they do give that bit of extra space for parents to relax - so it is always great to get such feedback.

Thankyou for your gracious comments i will ensure that all our staff see them.

Thankyou again for taking the time to review and i hope to see you again soon in the future.

We loved the Strandhill Lodge. We stayed for just one night (but will definitely be back) in a double room with balcony. Highly recommended. The room is very spacious, with everything one could need including tea/coffee, bottles of water, and a mini fridge. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom a good size. The balcony was great-super view over Strandhill golf course to the sea. It's worth paying a little bit extra for these rooms to get this view.
We really liked being given menus for the best local restaurants when we checked in, and had an excellent meal next door in The Venue.
Breakfast is continental but there is a really good selection of breads/pastries/cold meats/fruit/boiled eggs etc, and it is available until quite late in teh morning which suited us very well.
A fab mini break, very good value, and we loved Strandhill and the waves.

Room Tip: Go for the balcony rooms!

Dear Maggietraveller

Thankyou so much for taking the time to review it is greatly appreciated.

Im delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found the room and amenities to your liking. The views are fabulous from our sea-facing rooms and although we see them every day it is always nice to be reminded by guests how wonderful they are. It is a shame you were not able to stay with us longer.

As we often say here we always give a synopsis of the local restaurants and bars as we genuinely want guests to experience the best the area has to offer, We are very lucky to be surrounded by such great bars and restaurants.

The breakfast although continental is improving all the time and im delighted that more and more guests like you are enjoying the alternative and healthy option.

If you do return be sure to let us know in advance and i will ensure you get the balcony room again for your extended stay with us.

In the meantime thankyou again for taking the time to review and i look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of August.
Spotless and modern facility.
Stayed in a suite and a double room.
Suite consisted of seperate bedroom and lounge with kitchenette.
Very spacious and magnificent view from bedroom window.
Also stayed in ground floor room on third night, as no suite available on this night.
Very spacious.
Very helpful and knowledgable management.
An abundant and varied continental buffet for breakfast.Excellent breakfast.

My only criticisim is that the breakfast room is a bit small and that some guests had to wait for tables to be vacated. However, managament were aware of the situation and did their best to get tables cleared and guests seated.
Apart from that, a truely excellent facility with excellent staff, in a great location.
We will return.

Room Tip: Geta suite if you can.All are on the top floor.Well worth the extra 20-30 euros per night.

Dear Aarkis

Many thanks for your review and for taking the time to do so. Im delighted that we met your expectations during your stay.

Im happy that you found the room spacious and well sized for your needs. It is a pity that we were unable to facilite you in the same room for the three rooms but im glad that it didn't cause you too much inconvenience to change rooms. Im delighted that you felt the standards remained high despite the change.

We try to facilitate our guests in every way possible so thankyou for your kind comments regarding the staff i will pass on the kind acknowledgement.

In the meantime can i say that we were delighted you chose us for your stay and i look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Thankyou again for taking the time to review.

We stayed two nights at the Strandhill Lodge, and only wish we could have stayed longer! The place is beautiful and comfortable, with all the amenities you could ask for (including a small fridge/chiller, ipod dock, movies to borrow, and internet). We stayed in a room with a balcony and the view was absolutely stunning! Strandhill itself is a great little surf town, much funner to stay in than Sligo Town, in my opinion. There is so much to see in Sligo county, and David was a great help in offering suggestions on where to go and what to see. We hope to go back some day!

Well David, I'm sure it was business as usual but for me (Massimo, the curly Italian) staying sat Stranhill made the difference. We loved Sligo, scenery, sites, hikes and rides. We enjoyed the food too. But without your support it would not have simply been the same. Quality of service and flexibility were topclass. Facilities lack any glamour, and rightly so, but provide a robustly comfortable and hassle free accommodation experience. Who knows I may see you again soon... Take good care of yourself

Dear CIVET

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. It is greatly appreciated that you took the time to write such kind comments about your stay with us. We try to make guests stay as comfortable as possible and im happy that we went someway to achieving this. We do try and treat guests on an individual basis and because of the size of the business it is often the case that we get to know guests better so we are better able to tailor their experiences etc.. so it was a pleasure to deal with you both. You experienced the best of Strandhill during your stay here and im delighted that you found all to your liking despite the inclement weather.

I do hope we will see you in Strandhill again sometime - if i can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to let me know.

Strandhill Lodge and Suites is a lovely place which is spotlessly clean and has very friendly staff. Our suite was very spacious and comfortable. The continental breakfast was fine with good choice of breads, cereal and fruit. The surrounding area is very nice with Sligo only 5 or 6 miles away.
