My boyfriend and I stayed here in April 2012. What an absolute beaut of a hotel with excellent staff and facilities. When we checked in we were given menus and directions to all the eataries and pubs in the area which saved us loads of time and energy! The wonderful staff organised our surfing lessons gave us all the information we needed when we got there and we paid through the hotel which saved us having to bring cash down to the beach with us. Although they don't do a traditional "full irish" breakfast, the continental provided was one of the best I have had. There was a huge selection of breads, pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fruits and anything you could need to set you up for the day. It was the little touches that did it for us. Complimentary coffee & tea from the machine in the lounge area, bottles of water in the room, dvd player in the room with a selection of dvds to choose from in reception, WIFI, iPod/iPhone dock in the room etc etc. The room with a balcony is worth the little extra with a view so beautiful you can ignore the pub carpark next door! They kindly allowed us a late check out to faciliate us after our last surf lesson at no extra charge. We will definately be back. Thanks so much for a fabulous stay.

Dear Trippinmad

Thankyou so much for taking the time to review us; it is greatly appreciated.

I'm delighted your stay with us worked out so well and that the Surfing was so enjoyable. We like to make it as easy possible for guests when booking so that is why we offer the packages with the local surf schools.

Im glad you enjoyed the breakfast as we constantly say; we keep trying to improve the fare we offer and although some people do like the 'full irish', the comprehensive and healthy continental we offer; we feel gives a more varied choice.

We offer the late checkout where possible as we like our guests to feel relaxed and unhurried during their stay. The room amenities and complimentary WIFI is all part of the service.

Again thankyou for reviewing it is always nice to hear positive feedback.. and I look forward to welcoming you back surfing in Strandhill in the near future.

Staff very helpful, rooms clean and very well presented, stunning view of strandhill from balcony of room. Great place to spend long weekend with no need to go into Sligo Town as plenty of good resteraunts and pubs within walking distance. if you get a good day be brave and try to get over to Coney Island and have a picnic on a deserted beach.

Room Tip: go for double room with balcony on second floor with sea views

Just back from a fantastic golf weekend in Strandhill where we stayed in the Strandhill Lodge and Suites Hotel.I have been travelling to Strandhill since i was a child as my mother was from Sligo and Strandhill has a very special place in my heart but in recent years i was reluctant to go there as it suffered from a lack of decent places to stay but not anymore!
The Strandhill Lodge and Suites Hotel has to be one of the finest hotels i have ever stayed in and David the manager goes out of his way to be as helpful as he possibly can and made our stay even better.
The rooms are fantastic ,the views are amazing and the breakfast is fantastic and really sets you up for a game of golf on what is as Christy O Connor Jnr called it a hidden gem of a golf course (Strandhill Golf Course).
I can only give this hotel and David 10 out of 10 and i will be back up during the summer, well done well done indeed.

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view ....takes your breathe away.

Dear PhilipKilleen

Thanks so much for posting the review and i'm delighted your time in Strandhill. It is great to hear that you are still coming here after all those years and i'm delighted that we can accommodate you here.

I'm delighted you enjoyed the golfing trip and you are correct about Strandhill Golf Course; it is a terrific amenity in the area.. the views when going around are terrific and as you intimated it has been here since 1942 and still largely undiscovered.

I look forward to welcoming you and your family back again in the near future; and as always if i can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to let me know.

I chose Strandhill Lodge & Suites based on their rating and reviews and was not disappointed, we had a wonderful stay and am looking forward to staying there again as soon as I can. A friend and I stayed for two nights in a twin room with the most beautiful sea view. David checked us in and was so welcoming and helpful, giving us plenty of information on places to go, things to do and menu options for the area, we were very impressed. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom and a great power shower. Breakfast was a lovely self service continental breakfast with plenty of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, juices, breads, pastries, teas and coffee in a very cosy breakfast room. Again David helped us plan our day in Strandhill and we ended up walking to and from Coney Island at low tide and walking the Culleenamore beach right round to the Strand beachfront in time for our Voya seaweed bath. We also got a great list of pubs in Sligo town for Friday night. Unfortunately we didn't end up having time to walk to the Knocknarea summit but that is definitely on my to-do list for my next trip. All in all, 10 out of 10 and I am looking forward to going again. Enjoy your stay :)

Dear Lorrcoleman

Thankyou so much for taking the time to review; it is greatly appreciated.

I'm delighted you both enjoyed your time here with us - and with the surrounding area. You certainly put great effort into seeing as much as possible during your time here and im delighted you found the trip to coney island to be so worthwhile. Living here sometimes you don't get the appreciation of what is close by so it is lovely to be reminded of what great features we have here in Strandhill. Knocknarea and Carrowmore are definite must-do items on your return.

I'm glad you enjoyed breakfast so and as i've mentioned before we welcome all suggestions on improvement.

The Voya Seaweed baths are terrific and great for relaxing those muscles after a long day of trekking!

Again thankyou so much for posting the review and i look forward to welcoming you back to Strandhill in the near future.

I stayed with a friend for a couple of nights. The first fantastic thing about this place is the way in which you are received, with all information about the hotel and the area (even menus from the nearby restaurants). The rooms are very modern (new) and spacious, and we were lucky enough to have a room with a little terrace facing the sea. Beautiful. The bathroom is spacious and it has everything you need (there is a blow dryer in the room as well, which is handy for girls with long hair). The room also has a modern TV and dvd player and they offer dvds at reception (we did not watch any but I thought it was nice to give the option). They also have a tea and coffee service all day downstairs (and a kettle with tea and coffee in the room). Breakfast was continental but very complete (cereal, eggs, ham, cheese, croissants, pancakes, toasts) and the cafeteria is sunny and comfortable, and they served until 11:30 which is very good. The hotel is a walking distance from the beach and restaurants and close to all amenities in Sligo and area. Also, if you stay here you get a 15% discount on the seaweed baths in Strandhill (Voya) which worked out very well for us. There is a pub next door that is quite lively (with Irish trad music) so you do not get the noise (the hotel is peacful) but you can take advantage of a last drink close to the hotel. All in all I thought it was great service for the money, and I would return, no doubt, if I go back to Sligo. Great service!

Room Tip: I would chose a room with a terrace facing the sea.

Dear Pandela

Thankyou for taking the time to write your review; i'm delighted you enjoyed your time with us.

Im pleased that you enjoyed the amenites in the rooms and the views from the bedrooom - we are blessed to live in such a scenic area made more so when the sun is shining! The options for breakfast we are working on all the time to evolve to customers tastes without going for the full irish. We see it as a healthy fresh alternative and i'm glad it was to your liking.

The Voya Seaweed baths are a terrific incentive for visitors to Strandhill - they are now world famous and we are delighted to be in partnership with them in what is a terrific amenity for strandhill. Likewise the Venue bar and restaurant adjacent to us we are lucky and delighted to have such places in such close proximity. The music in there from thurs-sat is also top class so we are lucky in that regard also.

We like to welcome all our guests to Strandhill and we feel that by not supplying all the information available we would not be doing this fabulous area justice.

I hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip to Ireland and i look forward to welcoming you back again.

Stayed here on Saturday last. Got a room with a balcony and lovely view out over the sea.
Room was spacious and spotlessly clean and well heated . Tea/coffee provided in room as well as in reception.
Good spacious car park also. David checked us in, informative, friendly and helpful and extremely efficient at his job. All staff I encountered were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, cereals, fruit ,yoghurts, croissants ,plenty of breads ,pancakes and the coffee/tea you could want.Price was very reasonable. I look foward to returning here.
