This lovely (and tiny) cafe is a lunch must if you're staying in Fayetteville for a few days. Located right next to the square, it's a great place to walk around after your turkish coffee and baklava.

The cafe is a bit cramped, can have strange hours, and service isn't always that great, but the lunch fare is fantastic and being in the little place will really make you think you've been transported to a small restaurant in turkey (or Jordan, hence the name...)

Love this place, my only complaint is they aren't open for dinner. The food, service and price can not be beat!

Owner Saleh Faur hails from Jordan, which explains the name of the tiny, fragrant restaurant. Only open during lunch (unfortunately), customers in the know arrive when it opens at 11am Monday - Saturday to get a seat (closes at 2:30 pm). Into this intimate space is packed a wonderful menu of Middle Eastern fare including falafel, hummus, foule (fava beans cooked slowly with onions, tomatoes, herbs, and spices - a personal favorite!), the flavorful soup of the day (very tasty), backlava, etc. The food is fresh, made from local ingredients when possible, and prepared and served by a friendly staff. Saleh is always there, doing food prep and chatting with customers - many of them regulars. Located just off the Square on Center Street, next to Taste of Thai. You won't be sorry!

I LOVE the Petra Cafe... I've been there countless times and have never been disappointed. The service is friendly, the food is simple and cheap (and delicious), the atmosphere is quirky and calm. Very small so might expect a wait. The Turkish coffee and baklava is a must at the end of a meal. :)

I am a local. The Petra Cafe is a small hole in the wall restaurant located in downtown Fayetteville with excellent Middle East food. The owner is a Jordanian, I think. The mere fact that this little restaurant has survived for years speaks volumes about the loyal, local clientele that it serves. If you want a Middle East lunch this is the place to go in Fayetteville.
