I was expecting a bit of faulty towers with this hotel. We got a really good deal and decided to go for it. This hotel is quaint in an old fashioned kind of way. The pool facilities, food and service were great. We really enjoyed our stay and actually extended our break for a third night as we were so relaxed and having such a good time. The target market of this hotel is the over 60s and familys, not for the party goers. We will definately go again.

Booked a 3 night package as a treat for the kids before they went back to school. Receptionist was pleasant but was not welcoming first inpressions were that the place needed a good clean recpetion carpet was filty and teh furniture was ripped and worn out. The room smelled and was dirty used cotton bud on floor windows leaked and smelld of damp roof was leaking and carpet had not been cleaned in some time. Bathroom was small and hair on bathroom floor showed lack of any cleaning in some time. Towels were thin and not enough to dry 4 people, 2 adults and 2 kids with 4 four hand towels!!!!! asked for more towels and I'm still waiting. Bar servcie was poor and food quality not must better, by what we saw on other peoples plates, we left after 15 mins of waiting. We inquired about the kids club to be shown some old store room area that they used not much in the way of facilities for kids so we left. We only stayed one night, the receptionist did not seem to care about our complaints and the manager was now where to be seen. We booked into the radisson down the road for the follwoing 2 nights at the same price per night. We got a fabulous room and teh facilities and staff were brilliant. Will not be returning ever.

We have just come back from a 3 night break at this hotel. It exceeded all our expectations. The staff , food , facilities, pool, gym, bars were all very good. The location was an excellent setting for a short break. Our room was clean , warm and had a fantastic view. The room had a double bed , single bed and a sofa to gaze at the view.
Okay so the furniture needed updating and was in need of repair but this did not concern us. Having booked the hotel AND then read the reviews on this site .....We were dreading going , but all that changed when we got there. All the negative reviews we read on this site are just not what we experienced !! Maybe we are easliy please ......... but We have been in much better hotels and yet not enjoyed them as much as this hotel. Our break was great value for money . With so many things to do and to see in and around the Hotel I would reccommend this Hotel to anyone looking for a short getaway break . I would like to thank the management and Staff for making our stay a very pleasant one.

We had a very comfortable week here. Breakfasts were excellent. The hotel is set where WB Yeats came to visit as a child in the summer months and you can walk sraight out of the hotel door and enjoy the countryside. It is very easy to tootle along into Sligo or around the area. Although there was some very good food available at dinner it was let down by serving the same set of vegetables regardless of whether fish or meat had been chosen. The irish beef dishes in particular were delicious. They probably are being too ambitious in providing such a range of alternatives on the menu each evening.

I don't know where to begin. We went foe a weekend away with a group from Dublin. The Oct bank hol. Hotel was busy. Staff were lovely. We were there before and enjoyed it but this took the biscuit altogther. The rain was so bad it was leaking in all mover the place. The front door was constantly blowing open with the wind. In fairness there was a atorm, but the door was a joke. The staff spent most of the wkend opening it and closing it for people because in the end they had to turn a key in it to keep it closed. The village itself is superb. we went to a local pub and met plenty of the local folk. We had late drinks in the hotel served by the nite porter who was very chatty. All the staff were great. There was a little scuffle in the wee small hours between the locals and a lady who we believe to be a member of staff. Not exactly the type of thing that should be going on, but none the less that was the way it was. i'm not sure if we will go back as it seems to get worse and worse each year. How they can charge people what they do and the roof about to fall in is beyond me. This day in age it is not acceptable. Does the owner have no shame?? Woule he/she go and spend a wkend in a hotel like this?? I think not. Time to shape up or move out folks.........

We decided to take a weekend break at the last moment in this hotel. Had stayed there back in late 1990's and it needed to be upgraded back then so imagine our disappointment to see very little had changed. Outside looked very unappealing, dreary and dirty. Reception was dingy and lacked any welcome. Deciding to make the most of it, we got the old fashioned key (no swipe cards here) and made our way to our room. The hallways were in terrible need of a lick of paint and new carpets. The bedroom was bright and functional but the window was so warped it did not close properly and it was chilly. A half finished milk shake was left in the bathroom (not ours) but overall it was clean. We sat in the foyer having a drink before dinner but had to leave and go to the bar due to the condition of the furniture, tatty, ripped red leather chairs (think of Fr Jacks). The bar was lovely, obviously recently renovated and the staff were pleasant. Dinner was an unpleasant experience. As well as the food being terrible, lamb so tough I couldn't cut it, the draft coming in left us all chilled. We left before dessert and I would say the staff could not have cared less. There was a band In the foyer both nights of our stay which was great for the kids as they could sit around to enjoy. We had to pull the blinds on one of the windows down to keep in the heat. The leisure centre was modern and the pool was lovely and warm. Breakfast was chaotic both mornings, little co-ordination of staff, sat for fifteen mins for tea and the first morning we had to ask staff for plates for the hot breakfast. Although it falls below what you might expect of a 3 star the basics are there so come on proprietors spend a little, you would have such a great asset in the area. While checking out, the queue was back to the double doors of foyer and the couple in front were charged for their stay despite them telling the receptionist that a family member had rang ahead to pay for a present with credit card details and told there would be no problem. Altogether the atmosphere was good and we met some lovely people. I can see why people would bring kids here as they could run around freely without fear of breaking or wreching anything valuable! I would not see the appeal for couples looking for a relaxing ad comfortable getaway break.
